The Four Noble Truths - To Live is to Suffer | |

We become like that to which we are devoted. - Choose wisely. |

Quoting: Anonymous Coward 14403914 so telling archons always expose themselves. they can't help it, little robots. maybe I should stay on the grid too. You don't understand. Of course you do not need to suffer to be a Buddhist. Buddha merely stated that life is suffering. All of us suffer, it's a fact of life. How do your 'archons' expose themselves? not my archons. the gnostics, esoteric, coptic texts, Greeks, magistrates, Nag Hammadi, banks, etc. -- their archons. google it. it's your friend. I know what archons are. I didn't say I didn't. You said archons always expose themselves, and it's 'so telling'. What are you saying? Are your comments of any relation to this thread? Or are you just into Pokemon? I'm done with you. so enlightened you portray yourself as, but do not know what the hell I mean? C'mon dude. there are consequences for manipulating people, for real. you will understand with just a few more revolutions around the Sun. Then talk all you want with the archons. I'm sure they will make you understand, as well the pot smoker. |

I understand being attached to things and craving for things/money is posion....But what about love and falling in love..... Or am I missing something? Quoting: Anonymous Coward 36430867 I've concluded that it is like having a car, or a house or other material possessions. If one day they are taken away from, many people would 'suffer' from their attachment to that particular car or house or whatever. Buddha took it deeper and saw this embodied within human feelings as well. Say, if a loved one dies, it is the attachment to that loved one that makes you suffer when they are gone. Attachment is one of the causes of suffering. |

Thats how I see it. Or is there still something that I am missing? Without love (this also means being attached to someone) there is no reason to live... |

That is the area of Buddhism that I always had trouble with as well. I've concluded that it all must be balanced. When Buddha left his home, he had responsibilities to his family, including a wife and son. And yet, he left it all. To me, and maybe it is just part of this day and age, but that is awful. Supposedly the seekers then were highly revered and respected. So maybe his family viewed it that way as well when he left to find Nirvana, and it wasn't as bad as it sounds nowadays. |

Let me add this thought from Thomas Merton that I think relates to love and attachment “The beginning of love is to let those we love be perfectly themselves, and not to twist them to fit our own image. Otherwise we love only the reflection of ourselves we find in them.” To me this is a non-clinging, ungrasping expression of love. We become like that to which we are devoted. - Choose wisely. |
