Argentine credit card holders buying abroad now charged with 20% tax

The government today announced it will increase the tax credit cards users are paying when they purchase goods abroad.

According to an AFIP resolution published today in the Official Gazzette the tax surcharge Argentines already pay will rise from 15 to 20 percent. Buyers of tourist packages to travel abroad will also pay an extra 20 percent.

The Government said the measure was implemented after detecting "serious irregularities and fraud by financial and exchange entities, in particular exchange houses and travel agencies."

The new resolution also reached the purchase of goods and services made in a foreign currency via the internet.

We did the same with %50 of our savings. The Vietnamese Dong is expect to revalue at a higher currency. This might be a good investment. Thinking of doing this next and pull more money out of the 401k to buy gold.
