A "Black" Man, A Moor, John Hanson Was the First President of the United States! 1781-1782 | |
Anonymous Coward User ID: 34023421 United States 03/19/2013 12:32 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | i guess he does look like what today would be considered a 'black' man. back then he was probably classified as a free person of color. not so suprising, as the only First Lady of the Confederacy was also a 'free person of color'. anywho...what difference does it make as those classifications no longer exist and we all get along? |

No i dont really give a shit about the guys color im asking is it true this man was the real first us president ? no, he wasn't the first US president. he was a leader before the current government came into being. the government under the Articles of Confederation is different than the government under the US Constitution. before the Articles and before the British expanded their colonies west of the Appalachians, as a result of the French and Indian war, America was governed as an extension of France. i think what is most interesting is the idea that the part of America now known as the US existed as a place complete with government before 1776. he was just one American leader before the current Government. and he wasn't really the first...he was like the 10th or something. |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 1136710 United States 03/19/2013 01:59 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | OP is a fucking idiot. John Hanson (d. c. 1860) was an African American associated with the American Colonization Society, which sought to relocate black Americans in Liberia. In Liberia, he served as a senator from Grand Bassa County. Senator Hanson has recently been confused BY MORANS with an earlier John Hanson, a white politician from Maryland who served as President of the Continental Congress during the American Revolution. According to this urban myth, John Hanson of Maryland was actually black, and also the first President of the United States. Internet sites promoting the hoax use the photograph of Senator John Hanson of Liberia to support the claim, even though photography had not yet been invented when the earlier John Hanson was living.[2][3] [link to en.wikipedia.org] |

John Hanson is quite clearly what anthropologists would call a tri-racial isolate and he was probably classified as a free person of color. in his own day he may have been considered one thing, but at present he would certainly be called 'black'...black like colin powell. |

Charlotte of Mecklenburg Strelitz was a white woman who was unattractive. She had no black ancestry. She was just ugly. She looked like the current Princess Royal Anne. |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 34023421 United States 03/19/2013 02:24 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | i'm pretty sure he was the first commander in chief. there were no presidents in this time because america hadn't become a corporation yet. this is just from my researching, i could be slightly off. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 28468708 in my 7th grade history class we were taught that the government under the Articles of Confederation was 'overthrown' in favor of the government of under the Constitution. not taking a position on whether that is true or not, concerning a coup, it is clear that they are two different governments and John Hanson can never be considered the first President of an entirely different system. |

A simple google search, printed out the truth and he took it to school and "schooled" her. She got pissed and told him never to correct her again in class, but wait until after. He stood up and said the truth should not be hidden... good for him! John Hanson was A) WHITE and B) NOT the first President... There was such a thing as white slaves back then who could have shown up on a slave manifest to the new world which is how they paid for passage!!!! |
