The local banks will remain closed, when they do reopen those deposits will be converted to some new currency. It's possible that the new currency will be the Turkish Lira.

Russia Offer Cyprus Bailout -- Somehow I feel this will have far reaching consequences.

[link to www.ekathimerini.com]

Cyprus's finance minister pleaded with Russia for help on Wednesday to avert a financial meltdown after the island's parliament rejected the terms of a European bailout, raising the spectre of a looming default and bank crash.

Finance Minister Michael Sarris said he had reached no deal on financing with his Russian counterpart, Anton Siluanov, but talks were continuing.

Cypriot officials disclosed that the country's energy minister was also in Moscow, ostensibly for a tourism exhibition. Cyprus has found big gas reserves in its waters adjoining Israel but has yet to develop them.

"We had a very honest discussion, we've underscored how difficult the situation is,» Sarris told reporters after talks with Siluanov. «We'll now continue our discussion to find the solution by which we hope we will be getting some support.

Cyprus makes sense b/c of its size and strategic geopolitical position though. This is a beta test for the rest of the world IMO. Also a way for us to get into Syria (see other thread on this). Nothing this brazen just happens on a whim. This is a chess game, don't be a pawn.

They just tried to rob the Russians, and ther're still holding their money hostage. To even ask them for a bailout is stupid. The reason they had money on deposit in Cyprus was to saaaave money not spend more just to try to get it back. The Cypriots are trying to rob the Russians a second time now calling the money bailout funds and trying to secure an agreement while holding their money hostage. Plain old highway robbery either way. The Russians and Putin are not stupid. Their funds haven't even been freed up yet. Very distasteful what the Cypriots are doing. Trying to force bailout funds, secure the fact that the money they initially grabbed will still stay in the country , and secure future moneies coming into their country all while still holding a gun to the Russian's heads. Pure piracy. I know if someone just tried to rob me, or pull this on me I wouldn't be looking to save them. I'd be looking for revenge. On top of it they have taken everyone's money hostage until they decide what to do. Ridiculous. Locking people out of their accounts, setting caps on withdrawals etc... Unacceptable. It's not the cutomer's responsibility to keep the banks solvent. The customer has no power over management , banks are incorporated. How we ever got to the insane point where it's being suggested that customer's are responsible to keep businesses they have no power in and receive no profit from is beyond me. What's next are we going to be responsible for keeping the supermarket afloat ? The barbershop? No matter how badly mismanaged? I don't think so. If you set up shop , reap the profits and run the management it's your responsibiility to keep it afloat and or take the losses. Ask your Ceo's with their multi million dollar bonuses and paychecks to pay for it when it fails not the public, not the depositors. Very good answer, indeed most of the people will get ass fucked when the deflation occurs, only dollar will benefit but this will be a temporary thing so holding some of your assets like %40-%50 in gold is still a brilliant idea.

The banking crisis is very possible, it`ll probably be like the libor crisis but this time euribor will be the trigger.

This time its going to be much painful than 2007-2008-2009

Extremely important times ahead.

Each day we are nearing The ThermoNuclear World War III
