But north korea was capable of both launching a satellite, and building a wmd. I am pretty sure that they are qualified to Hack a service provider. (being we have 16 year olds here in the states getting pinned on that almost daily). Hacking isnt exactly rocket science ya know... Just saying, that NK is capable of this act. Not saying that another country wouldn't frame / be starting a war on their behalf or anything like that. Just saying they are mighty capable of sending some maliscious emails. Being that they are pretty offensive driven on the propaganda machine at the moment I would bet this was an attack by them. |

North Korea is definitely capable of it. That still doesn't mean that South Korea will do anything about it. |

Korea Banking Computers, MSM Television networks all down- Hack Confirmed - Blaming North Korea- Shit Just Got Real! NightWatch Quoting: Newshunter For the night of 19 March 2013 Unconfirmed reports state China has sent aircraft and ground forces to reinforce its border with North Korea since the UN sanctions were announced on 7 March and placed border forces on increased alert. The extent of the reinforcement is not clear, but the reports indicate China has taken some extra security precautions against the ripple effects of an armed provocation. [link to www.kforcegov.com] Strikes me as very odd. Why during a war between N Korea and S Korea, china feel the need to re-enforce its border with N Korea. I mean are they expecting a military under the stress of trying to fight its all time nemesis, suddenly mid conflict say, hmm you know what, whilst we're at it, LETS INVADE CHINA! oh yea boss great idea, divert some tanks and men. What the Fuck. The only reason China would move forces to the border in my mind, would be to resupply their good friends, N Korea, for a war against S Korea and the west. |

It's funny, I was just talking to my brother about this and he thinks it's "nothing" and that the TV going down is "nothing". Quoting: seekingthehturt It's scary to think there's delusional people out there, relying on welfare to live, who think this is "ok" to happen. Can you imagine being in South Korea right now? Call me when South Korea actually do something other than increase their alert level. They don't want a war with N.Korea, simple as that. Only ignorant, video game crazy kids desire war. Real war is undesirable and yet there comes a time when you must fight. SK had every right to fuck NK up if these hacking exploits result in injury/death or massive loss of public institutions. Hacking isn't just for turning off the lights, it can be used to steal money, gather data, change purchase orders, slip in a message in the broadcasting systems...etc I think there is more to this then just a network hacking. Maybe it was a localized (ground burst) EMP weapons test. |

Meanwhile, a suspicious message was identified in the malicious code which attacked local broadcasters and banks, a local software firm said Wednesday, raising concerns over a second attack. According to INCA Internet Co., a local security software developer, two words -- "PRINCPES" and "HASTATI" -- were inscribed in the damaged computers' master boot record, which holds general information of their systems. While "princpes" means "first" in Latin, "hastati" also refers to soldiers standing at the first battle line, which could be an indication that the hackers may attempt another attack on local financial firms and broadcasters. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 36531508 A declaration of war is being made, with the goal to reunify the Korean Peninsula under the rule of Seoul government and extablish democracy and capitalism and freedom in the north! since when does Capitalism represent freedom? Capitalism is the TRUE oppression of ALL people. Indeed. you can have lack of freedom without capitalism but you can't have freedom WITH capitalism. Not enough facepalms for you two. Capitalism was the the EQUAL opportunity for people to make their standard of living BETTER. Simple as that. Blame greed on capitalism? HA! Oppression? HA! You are imbeciles. You're the "blame shootings on guns" crowd. Quite sad, really. |

Remember the 1 mln army march which turned the tides of war again and saved NK back then. It will be either to reinforce NK troops at some stage of war or... run to the demarcation border before UN troops arrive to secure it so that the border remains there. They arent gonna let US troops station on the Manchurian border. In this case they will claim to be there to restore peace. All depends on how will it evolve/escalate. Wise move. |

Let's just have a worldwide rules of war declaration that says all wars shall be fought using cyber warfare and rounds of battlefield 3 if there is really a call for battles using soldiers, planes, and tanks. loser agrees to give up what was being fought for, let geeks on screens do the fighting and no one really gets hurt. I like it. |

I don't want to have to play against noobs today! I guess that's not funny. This is pretty scary actually. Why would banking institutions AND television networks be affected though, as banks (each different back) and each television network has it's own network. It would make sense if the entire "internet" in South Korea was brought down but since our OP is from Korea that doesn't seem to be the case. Sounds very sophisticated, well beyond anything I might be able to speculate about. |
