HELP NEEDED: Telescope suggestions needed for an amateur stargazer.
So the wife wants us to get a decent scope for some amateur stargazing.
I have a budget of “around $500”.

This one fits the bill and has most of what we want:

But I am thinking of trying to convince her to look at this one:

Anyone have any suggestions or other options?
Thanks in advance

I do have a nice set of binoculars. I also have one of those cheap $50 scopes that we have played around with. But you just can't get good views with those and it doesn’t have tracking abilities.
Thanks

The cheapos suck, I can't stand a shaky telescope with poor optics....the one I recommended is awesome. My buddy out in the sticks has one and it blows my mind everytime I look through it.

If I could buy it today, I would. My wife would kill me as my house is full of my shit already. LOL.

Is it worth it to spend the extra and get the IntelliScope version?

I've never used it, so I don't know.

I will say that I see beauty in simplicity.

Do a search, there was a thread a while back asking all of the same questions.

Dr. Astro is very knowledgeable about the various telescopes and can point you in the right direction.

Hopefully he will see this thread.

The Post of the Week!
I was kicking around the idea also about a good scope to buy. My kids are interested also and that should make it worth while.
