New leads as sex abuser in court
An "evil controller" who offered a 13-year-old girl for sex to other men is to be sentenced.
Frederick Lawlor, 52, from Abergele, Conwy, has admitted 18 sexual offences.

Six men who took part in the abuse were jailed in February, and a new appeal for information on six more was made on the BBC's Crimewatch on Wednesday.

Police said they were pleased with the response to the programme, which brought in 50 names, mainly from north Wales and north-west England.

Lawlor, who was described by police as an "evil controller," will be sentenced at Caernarfon Crown Court.

His young victim told police that she was abused by up to 50 men in a period of a year on beaches, in a car and in a flat.

Police were alerted by a member of the public who saw the girl being abused on Pensarn beach.


Lawlor's neighbour Gary Owen, 55, who was remanded in custody with him, will also be sentenced.

Mold Crown Court has been told previously that Owen was the only one who paid for sex with the girl. He has already served a six-year term after being convicted of sex offences against a girl aged 12.

The judge said that a report was needed to assess the extent of the very obvious risk that he represented to young children.

Former police officer Raymond Ketland, 66, of Nant y Coed, Glan Conwy, who has admitted the abuse, will also be sentenced with Gary McIlroy, 50, from Little Sutton near Ellesmere Port, who admitted sexual activity with the girl when she was 14.

On Wednesday, detectives investigating the paedophiles who abused the girl appealed on the BBC One's Crimewatch for help in identifying six more middle-aged men videoed by Lawlor.

The programme was told that despite her ordeal the men's victim was beginning to rebuild her life.

On Crimewatch, Det Insp Wayne Jones warned anyone who thought they knew the men not to take the matter into their own hands, and that they should contact police on 01745 588999.

The faces of the six extra offenders were shown on the programme, with viewers urged to call the incident room in St Asaph, and the main Crimewatch number.

Police suspect the six are mostly from north Wales and north-west England.

Armed with the information from the TV appeal, they will begin checking the names to see if any of them are the suspects.
