But if you're an idiot and insist on being with her, let me save you a ton of shit. DO NOT TRY TO BE DADDY TO THOSE KIDS. They will hate you. Be a friend. Be a confidant. Listen to them. They will respect you for it and adopt you as their dad. But ONLY if you be their friend first and do not try to boss them around. They will listen eventually. But it takes a ton of time. The waiting in the meantime will kill you. Seriously.

Why do you need to get married? You can have a relationship outside marriage. If you want to move into another person's home, it will come at whatever cost to you. If they move into your home, then they may become your financial responsibility should the relationship break down.

The kids will never be yours and likely be a constant source of friction - more so as they get older. You are clearly not ready for that.

Kids are great fun, but only in small doses. Kids are extremely expensive both financially and emotionally. If they are not your own then they are likely to be a burden unless you love your girlfriend UNCONDITIONALLY.

Think with your brain, and not your dick. Your dick may not have too much say in a couple of years, but may get you in a whole lot of trouble (as your girlfriend ex found out).

They always will be. It's instinct. You can't change it, you can't fight it. It's a universal law.

I took this route 35 years ago and it is still the same. About 20 years into it, she moderated and understood that some of the stuff I was telling here was quite accurate. What generally pissed her off, is that I tended to echo the statements and opinions of her mom with regards to the kids.

If you have the stamina and the moral courage to deal with it.. and accept that "Universal Law" it can be done. But believe me, it can get on your nerves. At that point it's up to you how it turns out. Something that could be called a true test of your metal. It's not something to go into lightly.
