N. Korea threatens nuclear attack on US bases in Japan - Tensions and craziness seem prevalent worldwide
The threat came one day after Pyongyang condemned the use of the nuclear-capable bombers in the drills as "unpardonable provocation".
The aircraft are based at Andersen Air Force base in the Pacific island of Guam and flew over South Korea as part of annual joint exercises, while missile-carrying attack submarines can operate out of Japanese ports.

"As the US has started naked nuclear blackmail, we will move on to corresponding military actions."
The warning coincides with a senior US military commander admitting that North Korea had made more rapid advances in its nuclear and missile programmes than expected.

Speaking before the House Armed Services Committee in Washington, General Charles Jacoby, head of the US Northern Command, said, "I think that North Korea proceeded at a pace faster than we had anticipated."

South of the Demilitarised Zone that divides the two Koreas, officials said they strongly suspect that North Korea was behind the coordinated hacking attack against South Korean broadcasters and banks on Wednesday. Three television stations were forced off the air and the computer networks of three national banks were brought to a halt by the introduction of malicious code.

N. Korea conducts civil defense drill, renews threat of nuclear attack

SEOUL, March 21 (Yonhap) -- North Korea issued air raid alerts as part of a one-hour civil defense drill on Thursday, the country's state media outlet said, as inter-Korean tensions are mounting over military drills on both sides of the peninsula and the North's suspected role in the massive hacking into South Korean media and banks.

In a separate move, the North's military has repeatedly threatened to use its nuclear weapons against the United States, leveling criticism at the participation of U.S. bombers and nuclear submarines in a joint military drill with South Korea on the peninsula earlier this week.

Korean Central Television, a TV and radio station, said the country's armed forces broadcaster issued the alert at 9:30 a.m. and ordered military personnel and civilians to take cover.

"Now the U.S. started open nuclear blackmail and threats, the DPRK too will move to take corresponding military action," the statement stressed. It pointed out that Pyongyang "will react to the nukes of the enemy with a nuclear attack more powerful than theirs, and this is by no means empty talk." DPRK stands for the Democratic People's Republic of Korea, the North's official name.

The Inos administration is keeping a close eye on the North Korean military's fresh threat Thursday to attack U.S. bases in Japan and Guam, which is the CNMI's closest neighbor.

Press secretary Angel A. Demapan said yesterday that Gov. Eloy S. Inos and Lt. Gov. Jude U. Hofschneider “continue to keep a close eye on this developing situation.”

He also said the Inos administration understands that the U.S. Department of Defense is closely monitoring this issue and taking precautionary measures in response to reported threats.

Guam Delegate Madeleine Bordallo, in a statement, said “Kim Jong Un and the North Korean regime's threat to destroy U.S. military installations in South Korea, Guam, and the Pacific is unhelpful towars ensuring peace and security in the Asia-Pacific region.”

“These statements, once again, are a reminder of the importance of the Obama Administration’s refocus on strengthening our defenses in Asia-Pacific and the need for the United States to maintain a prominent role in stabilizing the region and to work closely with our allies. Again, I remain confident in our nation's defense capabilities in protecting the United States and Guam from any threats or attacks to our security,” she said.
