this is a believable story ...a few months ago (Sept-Nov 2012) in Slidell LA a friend of mine was shot in his head by his brother because he wanted to join the Illuminati its fucked up what the devil will do to you if you let him in...you can look this up. no BS and the worst part is the brother name was Damien. I work in the Christian music industry. I was in sales for more than a decade and now I'm a marketing and sales coordinator for a label. While I can honestly say I have never heard of any sort of illuminati type influences on the Christian side, it is undeniable that most artists would never be heard of outside of the local college or coffee shop without a label pushing them to radio and getting them on tours they never could have gotten access to on their own, and distribution companies footing the bill to manufacture, warehouse, sell, and distribute their CDs.

There are some artists who are hugely talented. Most of them though aren't any better than anyone else who likes to sing in their shower. Accoustics are just a lot better and more controlled and manipulated in a studio. Want to get in a studio? Get noticed first and then do what the label tells you to. Don't do what they tell you and you won't have a second album.

I can only imagine this being much much worse in the secular market where dollar figures are much much bigger and there are no moral expectations.
