They should be able to give you something very mild and it will work, just don't abuse it. Problems won't go away but it should take the edge off. And...don't worry, you will not want to commit crimes either. SPEAK UP. SILENCE IS DEADLY! I am currently experiencing life at several WTFs per hour. |

Tell yourself to suck it up, eventually it goes away. Stay away from the meds if it is only Panic or Anxiety. αιδουσι ~ "The angel of the LORD encampeth round about them that fear him, and delivereth them." (Psa 34:7) |

BRIEF User ID: 381742 United States 03/22/2013 03:12 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | As far back as I recall I've always been unnaturally anxious. I think it might have been caused by my father who was a raging abusive drunk who beat and bullied the hell out of my mum. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 6010775 All of this scared the hell out of me when I was growing up, until i turned 16 and beat the hell out of him. I know it was wrong, but it was impossible to reason with him. If I attempted to try to talk things out with him, he would perceive it as a threat and want to fight me. I just couldn't have him doing those things to my mum anymore. But his abuses didn't stop. Even though he knew I could beat him, he could never accept it and always sought out ways of trying to break me down psychologically. it worked. I'm 34 now and I just want all of the inner fear to disappear for good, so I can get on with my life. Any ideas? You could see a good psychologist and work on your problems, and it is real work...or you could self-medicate with pot, alcohol, Xanax and various other drugs until you either die of an overdose or decide to seek help... I never forgive and I never forget I am a licensed firearm holder. I will, under protection of law, use lethal force if attacked. |

Anonymous Coward (OP) User ID: 6010775 United Kingdom 03/22/2013 03:16 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I'll explore these options you have suggested ASAP. Thanks a lot. "Are you having anxiety or panic attacks?" Constant anxiety within my solar plexus, but not panic attacks. I think that the reason I haven't yet experienced panic attacks, is because I try to avoid any stressful situations as much as possible. For instance, I avoid any form of work where I have to deal with customers, or any people who come across as intimidating. I was checking out symptoms of PTSD before and lots of it resonates with me. I have improved in comparison to what I was, but the residual feelings of fear are still there and I wish they would go away. I am going to check out the options suggested to me. Thanks for reply. |
Anonymous Coward User ID: 36038327 United States 03/22/2013 03:18 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | EMDR therapy. It works!!! Great for PTSD and childhood trauma. I have friends who swear by this. We were discussing it over lunch today. I might try it myself. Google it, it is very effective. Drugs will just cover up the anxiety, you have to deal with the root issues. |

Mr.Evil User ID: 27570971 United States 03/22/2013 03:19 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | im ADHD and dealt with the anxiety that comes along with it since I was a kid. Up until 2 years ago, I didn't know how to treat it, but I had finally accepted that it (anxiety) was what was making my life socially or even in relationships, difficult. I talked with my Dr and he prescribed WellButrin for me, as it's been proven effective in usage for ADHD patients, to drastically reduce anxiety. In the 2 years since I've been on it, I have come off of it twice, both times, within a few weeks I noticed my anxiety levels climbing up as the medicine worked its way out. Now, I make sure to take it daily, no longer testing myself by stopping it and trying to cope with the anxiety. Last Edited by Mr.Evil on 03/22/2013 03:19 PM |

Simple_Man User ID: 15977994 United States 03/22/2013 03:23 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | aniexty comes from worry and fear Worry and fear comes from past experiences like your child hood and from thoughts You can't change your childhood but you can change the way you think ... it's not easy and it's a process ....meaning that it will take time ....you will find yourself failing at it but just like a baby that's learning to walk ...you get back up and try again and you DONT beat yourself up for failing ....we are imperfect beings and its ok to fail but it's not ok to give up Here's the secret thoughts are like Birds .... You can't keep them from flying over your property but you can keep them from building a nest and living there when thoughts that bring me down or make me negative start flying over (coming into my mind ) ....I separate them from self ...meaning this my thoughts are not me .....they are a separate thing ..a separate energy ...I look at them like I'm observing something and think ...oh look at that ..there's that thought of my bad childhood again .... and then I either purposely think about something else and if I'm having trouble with that then I engage in an activity the will forcibly make me think about something else like doing a crossword puzzle when birds come (thoughts) and you let them build a nest ( think about the details of the thoughts) then your thoughts will become your moods ......the Bible says ...as a man thinketh , so he is .... that's why the Bible teaches .....whatsoever things are pure ....whatsoever things are holy ..etc....etc.....think on these things god created the mind so he knows how it's works ...therefore he gave us instructions on how to control it if the birds are good bird ( thoughts ) then let them nest in your mind( then go ahead and think about it ) ....if they are undesirable birds(thoughts) then don't let them nest and you do this by taking an aggressive action against them by forcing your mind to not think about these things.....as I mentioned earlier ....you do this by forcing the mind to think about something else like doing a crossword puzzle ....everyone is different so expiriment with different things to see what works and doesn't work This is not an easy discipline to learn and you will get frustrated alot at first but I promise you that if you are determined and patient that it will pay off in the long run and your anxiety will go to an all time low you must fight for your contentment .......it's worth it Last Edited by Simple_Man on 03/22/2013 03:28 PM |

Alcibiades User ID: 7405433 Australia 03/22/2013 03:34 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Being a mental disorder I think you can use your mind to think your way to healthy happier thoughts. If you consciously try to reprogramme yourself with knowledge and understanding of the psychological physiological socialogical factors at play, you will be on the right path. It is said over 60% maybe higher of illnesses come from the mind, try not to freak yourself out, see all possibilities as things you can deal with regardless of the projected outcomes. Good motto being; Whatever may come face it on your feet, not your knees. If the milk is spilled do you cry? or clean it up and move on? Spilling the milk is one bad, crying about it is compounded bad. Everything is ATTITUDE! <very important, dwell on this. Is your cup half full or half empty? Your emotions should rest in neutral most of the time, consciously observing and experiencing, when it slips into reverse and negativity creeps in, YOU must change gears and start heading forward again. Don't let your mind dwell on negative thoughts, less pessimism and more positive constructive thoughts are needed. You have nothing to fear but fear itself. Fear is the mind killer The sleeper must awaken.
