Can somebody here name this mental condition?
A few years ago I watched this movie, unsure of what it was called but I can recall that the main character suffered from this so called mental condition. From my understanding it was based on a true story and a figure of only about %5-10 of the world's population has it. Perhaps it is evan less than that.

Anyway it had to do with the way people perceive things in their mind when looking at them, like objects.

The average %90 of people look at an object, say a tin shed. They see the shed, perhaps the colour and that's all they comprehend and they go on their merry way.

However the other %10 of people who have this "condition" see a far lot more. They will see the shed and the colour yes. But they will also see for eg... If it has a door, how many doors? How many sheets of tin make up the sides and roof?, what degree pitch the roof has, how deep are the support columns inserted into the ground that hold it up, roughly how tall is the shed compared to the 10meter power pole just next to it? They see every possible detail of that tin shed from just a quick glance.

In short, the average person won't think much about it and will probably not recall it in their memory, however the other people will have every minute detail of that shed engraved into their mind. Just by a simple 10 second glance.

I was thinking that but I think they actually called it something else. I know memory plays apart in it but there has to be an actual disorder that makes people do it.

No clue.
I see psycopaths everywhere.
I also suspected that everything was alive although not well.
But what you describe is no mental condition at all, to white people everything that deviates from mediocrity and psycopathology is a mental condition.
You just see things different.
I have diagnosed you as perfectly healthy.

Autism? Sometimes autistic people can be really keen on details. Or maybe sometimes that's just the persons personality, being overly aware doesn't have to mean a mental disability in all cases. Though if I had to guess a disorder from the bold, I'd say autism.

Re: Can somebody here name this mental condition?
Well I could be mistaken, it might not be an actual "illness" so to speak but I do remember that they had a name for it. It could have been Autism.

But yeah it's not just with objects it's pretty much everything that person see's. an EXTREME eye for detail

I notice things most people wouldn't. I call it being more observant and aware. It's called attention to detail. I think people with artistic tendancies are more like this.

I have noticed the people that are really good at doing things are more artistic in nature. Left brain right brain thing...

But in saying that, they would also lack certain attributes/abilities that the non artistic mainstream person would have. Correct?

You don't have to be an idiot to be left brain or right brained dominant.

Do you say that about left handed and right handed people?

Color blind people are normal brained.
