Parable of the Butterfly
A parable I learnt of about a decade ago and never forgotten it. I usually don't start threads but there are exceptions once in a while.

Parable of the Butterfly

A man found a cocoon of a butterfly. One day a small opening appeared. He sat and watched the butterfly for several hours as it struggled to force its body through that little hole.

Then it seemed to stop making any progress. It appeared as if it had gotten as far as it could, and it could go no further.

So the man decided to help the butterfly. He took a pair of scissors and snipped off the remaining bit of the cocoon.

The butterfly then emerged easily. But it had a swollen body and small, shriveled wings.

The man continued to watch the butterfly because he expected that, at any moment, the wings would enlarge and expand to be able to support the body, which would contract in time.

Neither happened! In fact, the butterfly spent the rest of its life crawling around with a swollen body and shriveled wings. It never was able to fly.

What the man, in his kindness and haste, did not understand was that the restricting cocoon and the struggle required for the butterfly to get through the tiny opening were God's way of forcing fluid from the body of the butterfly into its wings so that it would be ready for flight once it achieved its freedom from the cocoon.

Sometimes struggles are exactly what we need in our lives. If God allowed us to go through our lives without any obstacles, it would cripple us.

We would not be as strong as what we could have been. We could never fly!

I asked for Strength.........And God gave me Difficulties to make me strong.

I asked for Wisdom.........And God gave me Problems to solve.

I asked for Prosperity.........And God gave me Brain and Brawn to work.

I asked for Courage.........And God gave me Danger to overcome.

I asked for Love.........And God gave me Troubled people to help.

I asked for Favors.........And God gave me Opportunities.

I received nothing I wanted ........And everything I needed!

Well, I could post some Edgar Allan Poe and H.P. Lovecraft stories if you think of this as creepy. hf

This is so cool OP!

A beautiful reminder of how God works everything.. even our struggles out for our good.
But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned.
I Corinthians 2:14

God doesn't choose favorites.. They choose HIM

It is not the greatness of my faith that moves mountains but my faith in the greatness of God

Same here AC, last August. She liked labyrinths and hummingbirds as well.

The symbolism of the three
Comes together easily
If one is able to picture, to see
That hummingbirds flap their wings
In a manner that seemingly
Could appear an infinity ring
That brings us back to be

My sincere condolences, I'm glad that this story gave you some comfort. My own mom is currently in chemo treatments and fighting for her life, and I lost my father not that long ago, I try to get the best out of such experience and see it as some sort of adventure, kinda sounds creepy but it's my way of dealing with tough times. hf

Yeah, it sure is, the world can sure use some gayness with all the doom and gloom going on, people tend to be more inclined to believe in nightmares than in fairytales. hf

I have to say, in my younger years, I frequently prayed for strength, wisdom, etc. It did seem to bring more trials.

Today, I have learned my lesson...... not to ask for more troubles. I'm ready for some peace.

Yeah, it's all an insidious psy-ops. Who says that a psy-op is inherently evil? Psychology is reduced to chemical processes these days, even if psyche is another word for soul materialist made it more about the brain, medication comes in pills in moderntimes.

Besides, those real butterflies flying around with healthy wings contribute a lot to life, but closed-mind people only start to only see that when things start missing, ask the bees.

Very nice thread. We need to realize we are working on spirit progression and this takes alot of schooling.

“One of the saddest lessons of history is this: If we’ve been bamboozled long enough, we tend to reject any evidence of the bamboozle. We’re no longer interested in finding out the truth. The bamboozle has captured us. It’s simply too painful to acknowledge, even to ourselves, that we’ve been taken. Once you give a charlatan power over you, you almost never get it back.” – Carl Sagan
