El Hierro, Canary Islands Volcano
The scenario of an eruption in the near future is becoming increasingly likely:

- Volcanic tremor continues, suggesting magma is still moving although mostly laterally for the time being to an area just north off the western tip of the island.
- Earthquakes continue at high frequency and increasing magnitudes (more than 90 quakes above magnitude 2, including 8 of magnitudes 3-3.5 so far today). Their epicenters have remained at 14-16 km depth mostly, with some shallower events as well.
- Deformation of the western part of the island continues to increase, with vertical uplift reaching about 5 cm on some stations in the westernmost part of the island.

- 127 earthquakes so far today (strongest activity since the start of this seismic crisis)

2013-03-23 15:32 UTC
- Another strong M3.5 earthquake
- If confirmed, there might be a tendency of shallower earthquakes in the 12 to 14 km layers. The graph below is the El Julan seismograph
- Our current reporting is getting more spectacular every hour!

First post says magma moving off west tip of island. If it blows there, then a landslide just east could do it.

- 134 earthquakes so far today (strongest activity since the start of this seismic crisis)

- Hypocenters gradually shallower (12 to 14 km layer) which indicates that the magma is reaching cracks in higher levels. Too far out in the sea to generate a Surtseyan eruption if a new vent would emerge (seabed depth 1000 to 1300 m)

The iron again to shake with an earthquake of 3.8 degrees

The earthquake was felt by the population. In a week, the island has suffered 450 earthquakes

Re: El Hierro, Canary Islands Volcano
After a longer spell of relative calm the neighbouring island of El Hierro has experienced a new 'swarm' of earthquakes this week. Well over 500 quakes have been recorded since Sunday, March 17th, and most of these were of magnitude 2 to 3 on the Richter scale with just a few quakes of between 3 and 3,8. A good few earthquakes were felt by the population however. Nearly all the quakes occurred in relatively safe depths of between 12 and 18 kilometres near the unpopulated western tip of the island. Deformation of the island has grown recently and at some GPS stations a sideways motion and a lifting of the island's terrain measuring several inches has been observed, indicating mounting magma pressure.
In the past hour the activity has increased as this seismograph at El Hierro shows:

Re: El Hierro, Canary Islands Volcano
not El Hierro but... Irpsit says:

March 23, 2013 at 19:47

And I was going to post the following: “It seems Hekla is having an earthquake about every 3 days. Since last earthquake it is about time to see another earthquake, probably happening tomorrow”

And the earthquake just happened!

I think there are major changes precursor to an eruption in Hekla. I think there is a high change of Hekla erupting within the next days. Now I am even more confident that it might erupt.

So today we had a 1.4 deep earthquake, following a major strain event at Hekla.

The sequence of events should be this:
- earthquakes like this one, a few of them, starting about 1-2 hours before the eruption
- then, a major strain event
- then, larger earthquakes and tremor starts (this is 20min before the eruption)
- after that, the eruption starts with a major explosion and a ash cloud following it
- the ash column last 1 to a few days and then large lava fountains follow for several days to weeks
