My boyfriend is an ex witness, was born into it and left in his teen years. I love him to death, and it kills me when I think about how much more difficult his life was because he was raised in that cult. It seems that even after people leave the JW religion (at least those who were born into it or were in it from a young age) they are forever outsiders.
