Iceland Civil Protection Service has declared “uncertainty phase” at Mount Hekla!!! UPDATES!!! | |

Now the civil protection warned about it on the TV news, and said it is forbidden to hike near or on Hekla. A confirmation of the uncertainty that we have been discussing. I think it is highly possible for an eruption during the first two weeks of April. Latest earthquakes seem to follow a “pattern” every 3 days. Might just be a coincidence or cyclical pressure building up and released. And since it has been 3 days since last one, its about time for another earthquake there [link to www.mbl.is] One earthquake there still means nothing. 3 earthquakes means unrest but apparently they can still be followed by nothing. I guess more than just 3 earthquakes within a short period of time is the threshold to mean eruption almost for certain. [link to volcanocafe.wordpress.com] |

Forgot they have interest in it also bu also took a little of the fun out of it. I had this taking on the recent SEVEN QUAKES AT HEKLA, also discussed in RUV news just now at 12:20 (ok, I know / knew of four confirmed from 13 March) and had established the sequence as: 4 days, 3, 2, 1, 0, nothing, nothing, boom. *I be at safe distance Reply Bob says: March 26, 2013 at 12:14 Does anyone know what that dark area is that is showing on the Hekla cam, looks very strange.. Anonymous Coward User ID: 36898977 Portugal 03/26/2013 06:09 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | March 23, 2013 at 19:47 And I was going to post the following: “It seems Hekla is having an earthquake about every 3 days. Since last earthquake it is about time to see another earthquake, probably happening tomorrow” And the earthquake just happened! I think there are major changes precursor to an eruption in Hekla. I think there is a high change of Hekla erupting within the next days. Now I am even more confident that it might erupt. So today we had a 1.4 deep earthquake, following a major strain event at Hekla. The sequence of events should be this: - earthquakes like this one, a few of them, starting about 1-2 hours before the eruption - then, a major strain event - then, larger earthquakes and tremor starts (this is 20min before the eruption) - after that, the eruption starts with a major explosion and a ash cloud following it - the ash column last 1 to a few days and then large lava fountains follow for several days to weeks [link to volcanocafe.wordpress.com] |

Solar Guardian User ID: 36690922 Malaysia 03/26/2013 06:20 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Yes its possible. When Hekla erupted last back in 2000 there was was no sign of an eruption until just about 1 hour before. That reminds me, there are no preliminary signs before the 2004 Sumatra-Andaman earthquakes that it's gonna happen the previous day. This things happen like a thief in the night.... |
