I have just been thinking what if the magmatic pathways, at a very deep level (60-30km deep), have a common origin between Hekla, Katla and Torfajokull. Actually they have a common origin also coming from the hotspot under Vatnajokull which extends southwestwards. Somehow I have been noticing that: deep earthquakes on these volcanoes can sometimes happen in these regions one after the other and around the same time. That would explain the common origin deep down between Katla and Eyjafjallajokull, and also between Veidivotn and Torfajokull. Hekla could also have a common deep link to these nearby volcanoes. Just wild speculation.
