Sorry, sorry this is all my fault. Every year we fly on holiday for three out of the past four a volcano has gone up in Iceland. Last year no holiday, no ash cloud. this year we're booked for August so it'll go off in July.

a diferent behaviour in the last hour, don't you think? But i don't understand much of it... but no transients yet

you know my point of view - and if the eruption begins, then as an outpouring of the fissures in the vicinities of Hekla. so imo very unlikely that these devices will have time to tell us a lot about his approach, except for a very short time before it...
a similar behaviour in my opinion there are observed regularly enough and long time ...

Some earthquakes today in Iceland might be linked to magmatic movements: as usual the ones in Askja and north of Bárdarbunga (now even deeper than usual), also some very deep quakes at Kverfjoll and also deep earthquake swarm east of Grimsey. This I thought it could be tectonic but the earthquakes are just too deep, around 18km deep. However there is some regions in Tjornes seismic zone, where some possible subduction could be happening; this could be it. Nevertheless, there has been volcanic activity in the area, and it could happen again.

Other than that, so many people looking for Hekla, but it seems the action is happening really elsewhere: Askja, Kverfjoll and Kistufell (north of Bárdarbunga) are also having their run-up to their eruptions, and plenty much more ignored and overlooked than Hekla. I mean, Askja and Kistufell have inflation and plenty deep earthquakes and often swarms. What more do you need? With Askja, we only expect a small VEI2 fissural eruption, but Kistufell could be headed for an eruption with a larger volume of lava released (that area only has the largest shield volcano in Iceland and extremely large lava fields).

Likewise for Kverfjoll, a volcano that clearly also shows it is running towards an eruption, after some 80 years of sleep. Kverfjoll has usually small explosive eruptions, with some Gjálp-like lava eruptions.

By expecting an eruption on these volcanoes in “soon” I might within the next decades in Kverfjoll, and within the next few years (probably) at Askja. Kistufell has more rarer eruptions.

Earthquake swarm east of Grímsey island (TFZ)

Today at 05:25 UTC a earthquake swarm started east of Grímsey island. But this island is located in the Tjornes Fracture Zone. The largest earthquake today is a magnitude 2.8. No larger earthquakes have taken place so.
Earthquake activity is common in this area of Iceland so this is nothing unusual. This earthquake swarm is not connected to any volcano activity that I know of. If anything major happens. I am going to write a blog post about it soon as I can do so.

In that region, as you know it's usual quake swarms, even biger and they should be tectonic, but in several regions of Iceland it seams we will get some action in near time...
