Should American Christians support or reject Gay Marriage?
POLL: Should American Christians support or reject Gay Marriage?
Yes, the Christian message of love should extend to all people, regardless of the gender of the object of their love.
No, homosexuality has been clearly labeled a sin in both the Old and New Testaments.
Neither - Christians should focus on preparing their own heart and soul for God, by way of repentance and forgiveness.

This is a very controversial issue right now, and it has people on both sides very emotional about their beliefs and opinions.

On one side, supporters of Gay Marriage say that Christians should apply the Christian concept of love to all people, regardless of sexual orientation. They also say that refusing marital rights to homosexual couples denies them basic freedoms granted to them through the constitution.

On the other side, opponents of Gay Marriage say that homosexuality has been thouroughly rejected and labeled a sin in both the Old and New Testament of the bible. They also say that legalizing Gay Marriage opens the window for other controversial and outlandish notions of Marriage, to include Polygamy, underage Marriage, and the marrying of animals with humans.

Why the fuck would anyone spend any amount of time worrying about shit like this? Christian or otherwise. It's called a WEDGE ISSUE and the "two party" system uses these to create an illusion of conflicting ideals between the respective party supporters. These are constantly being shoved at you from elected officials in order to blind you from the actual problems that should be priority in every household. War, disease, famine, these are accepted necessaries without much debate, but gay marriage, ohh noo that is worthy of endless hours and countless dollars.

Your point would have traction if I had mentioned anything about political parties. Since I did not, and due to the fact that you went there, I would surmise that you have no opinion on the matter, or you support Gay Marriage.

I created this thread for Christians, to see where their mindset is. I did not create it to see who is Republican or Democrat, or who they will be voting for. A person's soul is much more important than their political leanings.

I voted "neither" as christians should not be involved in political affairs anyway........Jesus was crucified over a political matter by "religious" people who thought they were right and justified in what they were doing.

We should not be part of political matters.........it's none of our business as we are not part of this world, atleast we aren't supposed to be. That's what Jesus taught.

I understand the premise of your statement, however, I would suggest that because of the way marriage is lawfully defined and controlled by governing bodies it is hard to separate the religious beliefs from the political ones. I agree that a persons soul is much more important.

That is very true - God never legally defined what marriage is, we did that. So I suppose it is not Christians' business to worry about how the state defines marriage, as long as we ourselves are living within God's Laws.

 Quoting: Oyster

Because they like to stick their noses in other people's private business.

I'm getting really sick and tired of all the christian's on GLP constantly talking about gays around here. This does nothing but hurt others and push them away from the Lord.

Homosexuality is a sin no different then any other sin, and we all sin, every single day.

If every christian spent their time cleaning up their own sin, there would be no time wondering about others sins.

A person's sin is between them and God......period. End of story. I'm no perfect person either, first to admit it, so I don't go around pointing the finger at others who might be struggling to find their way to God.

I'm getting angry now.

Noah's flood and Sodom and Gomorrah was before the Messiah came and died. Everything is different now.

Now we live by the Spirit and each one has his own personal relationship with the Lord. Each one answers for him/her self, it's none of our business other then to love our neighbor as ourselves, and encourage with love.

The rest is up to the Lord as it's His business to judge and His alone. Our job is to love.

He also had a great saying... When the people were asked about taxes... Whose face is upon that coin?... The people said Caesar's he said then give to Caesar what belongs to Caesar and give to God what God wants...

He also said to turn the other cheek...

Yes he turned over tables of wicked men taking advantage of the poor...

Christians were told to go into the world and to live by the laws of the land... As they lived by the laws of GOD... And the Laws Of GOD had Priority... Live by the laws of GOD... And you have the answer for yourself... You live by example use and show a good example...

Can two men have a child? Can two women have a child... NO

GOD said to go out into the world and multiple... Case Closed...

Re: Should American Christians support or reject Gay Marriage?
I voted "neither" as christians should not be involved in political affairs anyway........Jesus was crucified over a political matter by "religious" people who thought they were right and justified in what they were doing.

We should not be part of political matters.........it's none of our business as we are not part of this world, atleast we aren't supposed to be. That's what Jesus taught.

I understand where you're coming from but to just sit back and let tyranny or evil overtake the world just isn't right. I mean Jesus stood up against the bankers of his day...there are many examples throughout the OT and NT of godly men standing up to evil so I will say it without shame I am against homosexual marriage.

Ephesians 6:12 "For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms."

Do you understand this scripture? I mean.....really understand it?

I'm not arguing over this...i certainly understand it's a demonic influence behind our government and our society as a whole that is leading america astray. All I'm saying is I do not support gay marriage. If that offends, oh well. I'm not starting a war over it, but if someone asks me where I stand on the issue, I won't shy away.

Jesus Anointed by a Sinful Woman

When one of the Pharisees invited Jesus to have dinner with him, he went to the Pharisee’s house and reclined at the table. A woman in that town who lived a sinful life learned that Jesus was eating at the Pharisee’s house, so she came there with an alabaster jar of perfume. As she stood behind him at his feet weeping, she began to wet his feet with her tears. Then she wiped them with her hair, kissed them and poured perfume on them.

When the Pharisee who had invited him saw this, he said to himself, “If this man were a prophet, he would know who is touching him and what kind of woman she is—that she is a sinner.”

Jesus answered him, “Simon, I have something to tell you.”

“Tell me, teacher,” he said.

“Two people owed money to a certain moneylender. One owed him five hundred denarii,[c] and the other fifty. Neither of them had the money to pay him back, so he forgave the debts of both. Now which of them will love him more?”

Simon replied, “I suppose the one who had the bigger debt forgiven.”

“You have judged correctly,” Jesus said.

Then he turned toward the woman and said to Simon, “Do you see this woman? I came into your house. You did not give me any water for my feet, but she wet my feet with her tears and wiped them with her hair. You did not give me a kiss, but this woman, from the time I entered, has not stopped kissing my feet. You did not put oil on my head, but she has poured perfume on my feet. Therefore, I tell you, her many sins have been forgiven—as her great love has shown. But whoever has been forgiven little loves little.”

Then Jesus said to her, “Your sins are forgiven.”

The other guests began to say among themselves, “Who is this who even forgives sins?”

Jesus said to the woman, “Your faith has saved you; go in peace.”

I dont think you need to agree with gay marriage. But, words for thought. Jesus told his followers not to judge one another, that is your Gods place. If you speak out against it you are not doing as your commander and chief so directed.

Re: Should American Christians support or reject Gay Marriage?
Reject 100%

Granted marriage is a dieing belief, most americans are enjoying free college and food stamps to getting married. But gays wanted equal rights and they got it. They can do everything straight people can do. Marriage is a different story it is not a modern day ceremony and no way american. Its been around since humans started recorded things. A ancient tradition like that should not be amended no matter what.
