Definitely...but that's Augusta, about 2 hrs south of Atl...It's spreading thru Ga- I grew up outside of Atl and I am shocked to see what's happened in Ga in the last 5 yrs.
I am also dumbfounded when people say by law they have to throw away food. Stupidest thing ever, just shows you how much the gov't doesn't want individuals to help each other, they want everyone to have to rely on big brother to take care of them.

These capital controls are only buying them time before they run out of cash completely. When the restrictions are lifted that's when the fun will start. Question is: are they only trying to delay the inevitible or are they giving certain people more time to get their money out of the branches outside of Cyprus that aren't imposing restrictions?

who benefits from this process?

the german/other european central banks sends Euros to cyprus
the cypriot government backs the move with asset transaction guarantees (preferential gas exploration rights to loan country companies/spin of off state assets to merkel etc. friendly businessmen)
the cypriots take the Euros out of cypriot banks and put it striaght into new accounts that they've opened with branches of deutche bank BNP paribas et al.

the euros the germans sent wind up straight back in their banks and they collect on the assets due to default.

put simply by offering the Euros they are giving the cypriot banks and cyprus as a whole the rope to hang themselves with and will take back not just the rope but also the entire countries asset base at the end of the process.

The cypriots overall would have been better served walking away from the euro reintroducing the cypriot pound converting all euros held and external debts owed to a "new cyp pound" and devaluing.

Maybe people in Cyprus are having problems getting most of their cash out quickly, but wouldn't there be major bank runs happening right now throughout the rest of Europe?
