Where did I claim we need population reduction? What I wrote was a rhetorical question (oh, look it up..). Not an opinion. Big difference, kiddo.

Is there any way we can get back to the danger of the missing virus? Because that is damn scary - - these things don't just get left out on a counter and get tossed with the Wendy's wrappers.

Remember back in the 80s or 90s.. some bio student from Liverpool University (allegedly) was locked up at Broadmoor for life, for trying to spread disease with fruit flies as the carrier. He was only caught by accident..! Don't ask for a link, can't even remember what decade it happened in.

I've had cold n flu for weeks now.. on n off. Raw garlic does clear the flu symptoms.. but not a stuffed nose & sneezing. Mind you tho'.. did briefly get rid of it.. with hot lemon & Scottish Bells Whisky, with raw garlic and raw cloves, mixed with Australian honey. Must get a jar of that Canadian Maple Syrup this week, expensive..!! but Good..! If I can get a few ounces of skunk I'd like to make 'honey oil.' which seems to be the cure all.. for 'everything!' but I don't know any Vietnamese or Russians selling it, as they have the very best ganga of all here in Blighty.

Been trying to get a GP appointment to get anti-biotics, don't trust the flu jab, but getting a GP appointment is like being a contestant on Wipeout. Not quick enough at 7am.. too bad! Well.. sigh.. at least our NHS & drugs are free.. but at .. what..! cost?! .. on the survival of the fittest patients can get seen to, after running a gauntlet of posh middle class/middle aged women replying to us like Headmistresses talking down to a small child who's quiet and simple, carefully pronouncing every syllable in this serious cold condescending manner. ( I AM Human.. by the way) then they turn round to their colleagues all laughing & full of joy n banter chatting about flowers & where has that form gone to. 'Don't talk to the patients. They might bite.' The eastern European girls are lovely..! & always friendly & helpful at front desks. Got chatting to 2 Russian nurses other day.. had a laugh! British nurses & medical staff REALLY NEED TO CHEER UP!!

I'd say the food & fluids in our diets have weakened our immune systems anyway, making us vulnerable to diseases.

An old remedy in my family for flu is to get stinking drunk off your ass. It seems the alcohol beats back the virus so you immune system can tackle it. I know it works for me.The longest I have ever had the flu was for @ 36 hours. I also know that achohol is good for localized and systemic bacterial infections (if taken is sufficient quantities, and by sufficient quantities I mean getting to that point where you have one of them hangovers that you promise God you will never drink again if he will just let you live.)

Any particular alcohol, beers.. or more medicinal treatments such as Scottish Whiskey or Russian Vodka, or maybe Napoleon Brandy? It's gonna have to be the black stuff in the pub.. the ole Guinness pints. Most London pubs pour Guinness out like a lager, but some Irish pubs or Irish bar staff.. know how to take their time in pouring a perfect Guinness. Even eastern Europeans know how to do it properly too. Cockneys can't pour a Guinness.. to impatient. 'fack off mate.. not standing 'ere all day pouring it the Irish way.. take all day .. innit..?!'

Re: The missing Virus is from the same College where the professor that wants to end 90 percent of population

I have proposed (and of course been ignored) a law allowing every couple in the world to have two children. Since most people are not of child bearing age or able to reproduce at all in some cases, population reduction would be swift and in 40 years the population down to less than half what is now, ALL WITHOUT KILLING A SINGLE PERSON and without preventing people from reproducing. The Catholic and muslim ideas of massive procreation to further their religious agendas are what caused the massive population growth, India and China have shown little pop growth in the past 50 years
 Quoting: Anonymous astrophysicist 1132828

Your proposal was ignored because it was both stupid and totalitarian.

Who the hell are you to determine how many children someone can have?
 Quoting: Shelgeyr

Would you rather your children be killed with disease and famine?
 Quoting: Shelgeyr

So you think those are the only options? Global population control or have "your children be killed with disease and famine"? They're not. And it would be breathtakingly stupid to assume they are.

Who the hell are you to determine that halving the population of the Earth - if you plan worked, which it would not - would be a good idea?
 Quoting: Shelgeyr

It would work, all one has to do is apply the math, it's pretty simple really
 Quoting: Anonymous astrophysicist 1132828

You fail to show why it "would be a good idea". I posit that it would be the catastrophic result of monstrous policies.

You monster.
tounge

Oh, and I think your reductionist math is off as well.

You say that Catholic and Muslim agendas have caused massive population growth, yet you not only get India's and China's growth rate so spectacularly wrong that I can only assume it is an intentional lie. The populations of both of those countries has more than doubled in the last 50 years - a far cry from your "little pop growth" assertion.
 Quoting: Shelgeyr

No maam, they have not. China has had negative population growth for the past 20 years since it's one child policy was adopted and India is holding steady at about a billion and has been since I've been alive,

 Quoting: Anonymous astrophysicist 1132828

At the risk of offending the intelligent (don't worry, I'm not referring to you), I'm going to go ahead and go against my better judgement by using a couple of Wikipedia links.

China: [link to en.wikipedia.org]
This demonstrates population growth.

India: [link to en.wikipedia.org]
Hey! Whaddayaknow - this demonstrates population growth too!

Apparently you're confusing "population growth" with "population growth rate".
Remember, any growth rate above zero = GROWTH!!!

My guess as to why India is set to overtake China as the world's most populated country somewhere between 2030 and 2040 is because of China's draconian uber-evil "one child policy". That plus the Green Revolution (look it up).
 Quoting: Shelgeyr

You're religious fucktard, I can tell. Probably a catholic. They think they have to have at least a dozen children.

 Quoting: Anonymous astrophysicist 1132828

Thank you for demonstrating - in your own words - your complete and total lack of any ability assess your opponent's position, much less to make sound and reasoned assumptions.

Your "I can tell" is especially rich because, well, no you obviously can't. And you prove it.

Just so you know:

I was not making a religious statement, nor a religious argument.

I am not catholic.

I have two children, and since I'm old I won't be having any more.

Spare me the cheap shot you're tempted to make based on that previous statement.

You seem to think adding the suffix "-tard" to words makes for a cool insult, when in fact it simply reveals what an unoriginal, shallow, callow, and self-absorbed person you are, not to mention behind the times.

At a guess - and here I'm making an assumption, but at least I'll admit it - but based on your "...since I've been alive" statement, you're probably a kid, and I'm defining that as "under 30" given the state of perpetual adolescence in which most of our culture is ensnared.

Oh, and my wife says "Hi", amused that you can't guess gender any better than you can make a sound linear argument or recite basic facts.

So, you either don't know what you're talking about, or you're lying.

Thanks for playing.

This is just alarmist BS. There really aren't "supervirus plauges1!11!" like in those hyped out Robin Cook movies and books. For fucks sake, that shit is sensationalized fiction. It is blown way out of proportion just like AIDS was in the 1980's and early 1990s. I remember when the libs were freaking out having sobfests and screeching about how Africa was going to be an empty continent in the year 2000 (and I was secretly cheering "YES!!!!"). When the hysteria died out from AIDS then they moved on to "EBOLA!111!11" virustard hype. Then that cycles back and forth avery now and then.

Look, Pianka is just a loser and a troll who wants attention, that's it. I bet if he even were libtarded enough to steal that vial, it would probably dud out and do nothing and then he'd fucking librage out. The government contractors probably supply that lab with vials full of sugar water anyway.

Wait, you hate this libtard professor who wants to wean the world of 90% of all the population, BUT - You were "secretely" cheering that AIDS was going to empty the African continent by 2000?

I can understand wishing doom upon the despotic African leaders over there who war monger all over the area and kill indiscriminately so they become richer and more evil- - but wishing that young children 2-6 years of age are wiped out in an incredibly painful and slow death? What is in it for you? You have that much hate for african children?

Here is the difference between you and the psychotic professor. He wants to rid the world of 90% across the board in order to maintain a "healthy ecosphere." You want to rid the world of the people of Africa (including the very old and children) b/c YOU don't think they deserve to llive.

I think you and the professor would get along great. Both of you have no problem deciding who lives and dies.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has referred to the FBI the case of the laboratory where one of five vials of a deadly Venezuelan virus went missing, an official from the CDC told ABCNews.com.

The CDC can make a referral to the FBI if it finds "possible violations involving criminal negligence or a suspicious activity or person to the FBI for further investigation," according to 2007 congressional testimony from Dr. Richard Besser, who directed the CDC's Coordinating Office for Terrorism Preparedness and Emergency Response at the time. He is now ABC News' chief health and medical editor.

Easily weaponized virus goes missing from Texas lab

The school has no idea where the vial went and says routine inspections last week left faculty scratching their head. Per the CDC’s Level 4 risk handling requirements, though, all facilities where such viruses are stored must contain a logbook or other means of commenting the date and time of all persons entering the lab which must be maintained at all times.

Biosafety Level 4 is required for work with dangerous and exotic agents that pose a high individual risk of aerosol-transmitted laboratory infections and life-threatening disease that is frequently fatal, for which there are no vaccines or treatments, or a related agent with unknown risk of transmission,” the CDC explains.

Meanwhile, two new government reports suggest that security breaches at facilities just like the one in Galveston could give terrorists the means of using biological weapons to conduct massively fatal operations anywhere in the world. The Government Accountability Office released one study on Monday that said the US is at an increased risk for catastrophic accidents at these laboratories, despite being urged 3 years earlier for scientists to more thoroughly secure their facilities.

Wait i thought there wasnt a security breech

Researchers at the University of Pennsylvania successfully developed a hybrid virus composed of an HIV core surrounded by the surface proteins of ebola. This new virus was capable of infecting lung tissue, potentially enabling aerosol delivery, and could facilitate the expression of foreign genes in infected cells. The published findings arguably provided a roadmap to engineering of a viral vector capable of efficiently delivering bioregulatory agents.25

Category A includes the highest priority agents because they are most likely to

According to intelligence sources, these are the agents that are most likely to be
used in a future attack, and are being researched and weaponized by biowarfare

oh this is nothing… look here on cia’s on website to find out that genetic engineers are making airborn hiv.

in particular this part below…
Researchers at the University of Pennsylvania successfully developed a hybrid virus composed of an HIV core surrounded by the surface proteins of ebola. This new virus was capable of infecting lung tissue, potentially enabling aerosol delivery, and could facilitate the expression of foreign genes in infected cells. The published findings arguably provided a roadmap to engineering of a viral vector capable of efficiently delivering bioregulatory agents.25

errrrrrr....why would they create something like this (I know, I know)....and who are they going to test it on? Do they ever create anything that they don't actually use somewhere ultimately?

easy.... san fran.. they did lsd from car exhausts back in the late 60's early 70's..... free buzz man.....

On another thread an AC declared a way to put hooks in food buffet lines...could be symbolic.

Two people in China have died after being infected with H7N9 avian influenza - a sub-type that had not previously been transmitted to humans - the government said Sunday. An 87-year-old man in Shanghai fell ill on February 19 and died on March 4, while a man aged 27 in the city got sick on February 27 and died on March 10, the National Health and Family Planning Commission said on its website. A 35-year-old woman in the eastern province of Anhui became ill on March 9 and is in critical condition, it said. All three initially suffered fever and coughs but later developed severe pneumonia and problems with breathing, according to the announcement. The three cases were confirmed Saturday to be infections with the H7N9 sub-strain

Biosafety level 4

The Galveston National Laboratory BSL-4 (P4) lab on the Campus of the University of Texas Medical Branch
This level is required for work with dangerous and exotic agents that pose a high individual risk of aerosol-transmitted laboratory infections, agents which cause severe to fatal disease in humans for which vaccines or other treatments are not available, such as Bolivian and Argentine hemorrhagic fevers, Marburg virus, Ebola virus, Lassa virus, Crimean-Congo hemorrhagic fever, smallpox, and various other hemorrhagic diseases. When dealing with biological hazards at this level the use of a positive pressure personnel suit, with a segregated air supply, is mandatory. The entrance and exit of a level four biolab will contain multiple showers, a vacuum room, an ultraviolet light room, and other safety precautions designed to destroy all traces of the biohazard. Multiple airlocks are employed and are electronically secured to prevent both doors opening at the same time. All air and water service going to and coming from a biosafety level 4 (or P4) lab will undergo similar decontamination procedures to eliminate the possibility of an accidental release.
Agents with a close or identical antigenic relationship to biosafety level 4 agents are handled at this level until sufficient data is obtained either to confirm continued work at this level, or to work with them at a lower level.
Members of the laboratory staff have specific and thorough training in handling extremely hazardous infectious agents and they understand the primary and secondary containment functions of the standard and special practices, the containment equipment, and the laboratory design characteristics. They are supervised by qualified scientists who are trained and experienced in working with these agents. Access to the laboratory is strictly controlled by the laboratory director.
The facility is either in a separate building or in a controlled area within a building, which is completely isolated from all other areas of the building. A specific facility operations manual is prepared or adopted. Building protocols for preventing contamination often use negatively pressurized facilities, which, even if compromised, would severely inhibit an outbreak of aerosol pathogens.
Within work areas of the facility, all activities are confined to Class III biological safety cabinets, or Class II biological safety cabinets used with one-piece positive pressure personnel suits ventilated by a life support system.
