Western El Hierro faces North America.

Deformation has reached 11 cm uplift and eastward displacement in parts of Western El Hierro. This is consistent with the intrusion of a magma body at the western base of the volcanic edifice.

Rockfalls:
During the more intense phases in the past days, with earthquakes as strong as 4.6, many rockfalls have been noted from the steep cliffs in the western part of the island, in particular along the road Frontera-Sabinosa. PEVOLCA has now declared "Yellow Alert" for the western part of El Hierro and advises the population to stay away from steep cliffs.
