Quoting: Anonymous Coward 37024308 I just read that doing this scares the worms out of the gut and into the rest of the body. True or false? It kills them, although it won't kill the eggs, so you need to keep taking the DE. (I believe it takes a couple months.) |

Yuk User ID: 37063144 United States 03/28/2013 11:08 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Yeah well it doesn't make sense to me why you would want to eat it. That would be like eating clay *yuk* DE is are micro-skeleton, single cell creatures, but their skeletons are like razor sharp and it kills bugs in grain because it dissicates their guts, they dry out and poof, gone. Now how does a bug get dissicated in your guts when its surrounded by water? And how does the bug exit the body/blood once its guts are dissicated? If you got fleas in your yard, it will eliminate them after about a week if you sprinkle it on the lawn. Same with pets (dog, cat, chicken, horse). Doesn't work great on ants. I wouldn't eat it. Well, unless maybe if I were desperate. |

Obvioulsy in the intestine it is wet. So it would have to kill the parasites another way. I'd imagine it would effect Ph balance by neutralizing acid. There may be some other effect. |

Quoting: Unixlike It is razor-sharp at the microscopic level, so slices them up. Make sure you order ONLY food-grade DE for consumption purposes. Celatom has very pure FOOD-GRADE available on Amazon. But, even though it works great, I always have to stop taking it after a couple of weeks due to an intense creepy-crawly feeling it causes around the nasal area. I always wondered the same as the OP. |
