Pope Francis washes feet of young Muslim woman prisoner

“This is moving, Jesus washes the feet of his disciples. Peter understands nothing. He refuses but Jesus explains to him. Jesus, God did this, and He Himself explains it to the disciples.. ‘Do you realize what I have done for you? You call me ‘teacher’ and ‘master,’ and rightly so, for indeed I am. If I, therefore, the master and teacher, have washed your feet, you ought to wash one another’s feet. I have given you a model to follow, so that as I have done for you, you should also do’.
It is the example set by Our Lord, it’s important for Him to wash their feet, because among us the one who is highest up must be at the service of others. This is a symbol, it is a sign – washing your feet means I am at your service. And we are too, among each other, but we don’t have to wash each other’s feet each day. So what does this mean? That we have to help each other…sometimes I would get angry with one someone, but we must let it go and if they ask a favor of do it!
Help one another. This is what Jesus teaches us. This is what I do. And I do it with my heart. I do this with my heart because it is my duty, as a priest and bishop I must be at your service. But it is a duty that comes from my heart and a duty I love. I love doing it because this is what the Lord has taught me. But you too must help us and help each other, always. And thus in helping each other we will do good for each other.
Now we will perform the ceremony of the Washing of the Feet and we must each one of us think, Am I really willing to help others? Just think of that. Think that this sign is Christ’s caress, because Jesus came just for this, to serve us, to help us”.

Doesn't this fulfill one of all the many prophecies?

As with everything in life lately....all may not seem as it appears. It seems that this man is walking in the truth and demonstrating the Life of Jesus and what God intended for all Christians to live. Though, coming from the Vatican which I do not trust, I'm cautious at this time, even Jesus himself said "you shall know them by their fruit, if they be from God, or not". I hope this pope will be a mover and shaker to rid their form of worship and life of all the paganism and worldly riches and indeed "Help the poor".

I was so skeptical about this pope, but he seems to legitimately be following the example and way of Christ more than any other pope in history. I do not know what to make of this. Could it be a smokescreen to gain confidence, or is he really just a sincere Christian trying to lead by example?

realize just WHAT THEY HAVE DONE !!!

I HAD ACTUALLY COME TO ALMOST DESPISE THE CATHOLIC CHURCH...
But I feel that this institution will NEVER die ...so it is VERY GOOD AND AUSOME THAT A REAL VICAR OF CHRIST IN THE TRADITION OF FRANCIS OF ASSISI is at the helm..
I guess miracles can and do still happen !!!!

Somebody asked if this fulfills a prophecy.

The foot washing itself? No. It is done every year the day before Good Friday. Not just the Pope, but by every Catholic pastor in every parish in the world.

You could make something about the unique touch this Pope has done with the ritual. But I don't know if it fulfills any prophecy.

I had expected another asshole and hypocrite for pope.
This man seems unlike any other pope in history.

If someone Preaches Christ Crucified and salvation thru his blood----doesn't that make him/her a fellow Christian.
Paul told us to "BE AT PEACE WITH ALL MEN, IF AT ALL POSSIBLE ".

All the popes have followed Christ, it's just that Pope Francis was picked for these times, his personality, background, and way of doing things are perfect for
a jaded, spiritually destitute world.

Although no longer a practicing RC and the fact I detest religion, I like this new pope. He brings hope to mankind. God Bless and God Speed to humanity.

He is to shepherd his church through the tribulation according to a prophesy. If this is true , it will take a very special leader which based on the fruits of his short time so far, may be the case.

So there is hope for the catholic church, they have replaced the kiddy fiddling pope with a pope who has got a foot fetish, definitely a step in the right direction ( no pun intended )
