North Korea Develops Undetectable High-Tech Sang-O (Shark) Class Submarine

- North developed special rubber to make its submarines undetectable
- North’s military strategy now changed to “surprise attack” strategy

On April 5, a source involved in the North Korean strategic defense industry reported in light of the recent sinking of South Korea’s Cheonan vessel that “North Korea, in its effort to strengthen its stealth capabilities in the last few years, succeeded in developing a rubber insulator (acoustic tile) which gets attached to submarines. This technology enables submarines to not get caught by South Korean navy’s sonar.”

The source added that the North Korean navy needed to change its offense strategy. Three naval battles since 1999 showed the superiority of the South Korean navy. North Korea decided to focus on developing a material that is undetectable by sonar, because it cannot possibly defeat South Korea by sticking to conventional large-scale warfare strategy; hence it invested in preparing its surprise attack strategy.

The source also said that after developing this new material, North Korea needed to test it under real situations. The source believes that the recent sinking of Cheonan is related to North Korea and that North Korea probably wanted to test its Sang-O (Shark) class submarine’s stealth capabilities.

A few years ago a sub launched a missile off west coast. Most assumed it was chinese, could have been nkorea. Brilliant strategy to place troops in mexico, years in advance, then swoop in take san diego. Wipe out west coast pacific fleet. Chips then fall away as s korea surrenders, and japan hands over assets.

I could see why they would attack the west coast. They want to take out the Marines in Camp Pendleton.
