If that happened it wouldn't be a new NK it would be all china pulling the strings. We as Americans must prepare for this emp attack and take it s an opportunity to get rid of our current administration. Let NK backed up by China start the shit and well clean the floor with them and our BS current administration. I can't say however if this played out this way that the new government would be any better. It would take years and years and many lives before we could see any hope.

What am I missing? Why is everyone so convinced of an EMP attack?

Still not seeing it. If they cant get a missle here, how are they going to pull off a wide scale EMP attack? Not trying to stir the pot here, just asking.

S. Korean Marines to hold drills with U.S. forces next month
SEOUL, March 31 (Yonhap) -- South Korea's Marine Corps announced Sunday they will hold multiple combined exercises with U.S. marines next month.

The South Korean marines said they will stage four exercises together with the U.S. forces in April to hone their capabilities in carrying out landing and tactical operations and in maneuvering their mechanized units.

I do realize that not all those who dwell the surfaces of our planet are blessed with the intellectual capacity to apply basic, appropriate analytical tools in calculating the most probable outcomes of scenarios of this nature. Hence, I would like to a bore, and offer all those sadistic minds out there who, on some subconscious level at least, seem to be hoping for an actual wide-scale open conflict with a dose of pure, undiluted reality. Regardless of what the North-Korean media hype and scare has spurred in some of your highly imaginative little minds, I assure you there are NO missiles or other weaponry in the North-Korean regimes possession that have the reach or are able to do any damage to any target on the American mainland. PERIOD. If you seriously believe the opposite you need to get your head examined. And that includes the capacity to use nuclear warheads. We are talking about a country who, despite having a 1 million plus standing army (which is quite large for any moderately sized country), are in terms of military- technological development 50 years behind the rest of world, and in comparison to the United States, surely at least 100+ years behind. Every move they are making, both above ground and below is being monitored in utmost detail. The idea that North Korea would be able to use their old submarines to get anywhere close a location needed to hit the US mainland without the US noticing or tracking that movement and neutralizing that threat pre-emptivly is absolutely ridiculous.

The only real threat that has ever existed is their capacity to take on the highly geo-politically vulnerable South Korea, seeing as how Seoul isn't located more than 40 km from the border of the two Koreas. Even though South-Korea has a smaller army numerically, their technological capacity trumps the Norths by a longshot so even an isolated mexican standoff between the two of them would result in an highly probable victory for the South. Any scholar versed in this field would tell you this. Add the US alliance to this and well, it simply is a no brainer. And China is not a factor people, their support of the latest sanctions imposed on the country should be an obvious display that their is a limit to extent of that friendship. What you ultimately fail to understand is that the Kim-dynasty in North-Korea uses this kind of rhetoric and display of power to handle conflicts and tensions within the small clique of family-elites who influence and circulate around the secluded Kim-dynasty. This is a simple display of resolve by the new heir to throne, to assure the preservation of his dynasty by showing that he might look dull ,fat and young but that he is willing to go great lengths in order to "bravely protect" his people. In turn he earns the respect and loyalty of the old, crazy and paranoid generals that surround and advise him. It has very little to do with the outside world you see. The North-Korean regime KNOWS it signs it's own death sentence and definite demise by initiating an open full-scale conflict it could NEVER win, with the South and by extension the US. The first rule in an anarchic world system of state actors is that only the national state apparatus itself can assure the preservation and continuation of it's own government and governance. That's some political science 101 for all of you pseudo-scholars out there :). North-Korea, if anything is a prime example of a regime with an extremely high sense of self-preservation, so why on earth would they resort to an action, completely counter-intuitive to this? Think! Of course it wouldn't! How would it benefit from it's own annihilation? So please. Chill out.

Unless your a spy or a leading member of the regime in North Korea with first hand knowledge then you know as much as anyone else..... NOTHING!!

It took three days before the west were even aware of King Jong Il's death, the west know absolutely nothing of North Korea, they know nothing of North koreas weapons programmes including nuclear, they may theorise or suppose but its only hypothesis, very little hard facts are known.

North Korea have for 60 years put the military first in preparation of a great war for reunification, the people have suffered so that the regime could pursue a nuclear capability which would defeat the US.

If you think North Korea are a hermit state then you are absolutely 100% mistaken and you mock them at your peril.

The North Koreans have built many tunnels into South Korea, Tunnel Number 3 was big enough for 3 people to walk through side by side, enabling the North to pour in 30,000 troops an hour into South Korea, bypassing the DMZ.

What this also highlights is the fact that North Korea could (and probably have) covertly transported a nuclear device (or many) through a similar tunnel into South Korea, they would not even need missiles.

You think they cant do the same to the US mainland? Think again, the US coast is huge and to that extent very vulnerable, especially to submarines, a nuke could be transported by this method, and transported ashore by fishing boat or high speed power boat. This is not an unreasonable scenario and very possible.

You may also forget the mexico / US border is full of tunnels into the US, it would not be difficult for the North Koreans to do the same and transport nuclear devices into the US.

It is also not beyond the realms of possibility for the North Koreans to transport nuclear devices in shipping containers through sympathetic Chinese companies.

You mock the North Koreans at your peril.

America should take the threat seriously.

Re: BREAKING>>>> North Korea says it 'enters war' with South Korea!!!
I think it is quite obvious the single biggest threat to the United States , and vulnerability, is to our troops stationed in South Korea, especially Seoul. It is a 100 certainty that N.Korea has the technical capability to deliver a nuclear weapon to any base in South Korea.

Since they have launched a satellite into orbit, they most assuredly have ICBM capability. If you will look back into history, you will realize that the launching of orbital satellites and ICBM capability coincided with each other in both Russian and American "space programs" , and in the Chines space program as well. You must realize that North Korea is a proxy for China, and China has strategically weakened our power base which is our economy to the point where we cannot prosecute an effective and protracted conventional conflict against them or Russia.

We have also provoked the N. Koreans with sanctions that have left then isolated and unable to feed their nation. They are backed into a corner, and the only thing that has kept them form action until now is Chinese rein, which could turn into a whip at any moment.

Our leaders have intentionally destroyed us, left our nations industrial machine in a shambles, and sent our defenses overseas prosecuting the imperialist wars of the Rothschild international banking dynasty.
YES, we are quite vulnerable. Though N. Korea cannot launch a massive nuclear attack against the mainland, they DO have the capability to put several EMP nukes over the US mainland and they could be an expendable pawn in a much wider plan to destroy us. If our power grid and electronics were to be knocked out, we would be finished, PERIOD, and you can bet it would be precursor to an invasion.

What we have going for us is over 100 million Americans who fought their government hard to keep their military capable weapons who know how to use them, and that is what ANY invading force is going to face. I personally think they will wait until our government provokes us into open rebellions against it and the end goal of course is this pre planed conflict that will wear us all down to the point where we will accept any solution, that solution being a global totalitarian government ran by the bankers.

So the key is in knowing your real enemy, and it is not N. Korea or China, who would be more than happy to leave us alone if we left their interests alone. China has NEVER in it's thousands of years of history ever been an aggressor in a war. They have always acted defensively, and driving us off the Korean peninsula is a defensive move.

Why do I get the feeling that many people in this thread (and probably this site in general) don't even care much about reality?

Is this mostly just a role playing site or something, with someone like me being the minority?

I see lots of cute and/or funny pictures and videos etc. but not much meat and potatoes when it comes to serious truth seeking.

Perhaps the "Lunatic Fringe" part is more accurate than the "Conspiracy Theorists" part of the site description.

Forgive me since I am kind of new here.

Def a noobie, yet there is nothing wrong ith that. There I a lot of BS threads that get made so it drowns the other threads that have the jewels. You just have to go threw it all till you find something that resembles what you feels the truth. This thread isn't a bad thread it started out reporting the news and now we are discussing it and throwing theory's out there on what happens next. Most likely with NK nothing will happen they are usually all talk, yet this time they've gone further than they usually have gone in the past so it does raise some issues.
 Quoting: Folklore 35872333

You're damn right there is nothing wrong with it lol.

It's not like this site is the be-all and end-all of anything. I have also been a reader here for quite a while, but am just new to posting.

I have been seeking truth a long time, and have found that as a general rule other sources of information are far better than this place.

There is way too much BS here for one thing, and even if you sift through it to find the "jewels" as you say they are few and far between.

The most profound knowledge comes from just observing the world, and then spending lots of time pondering what you see.

It seems to me a lot of people have fallen into the trap of thinking that this site is a one stop shop for enlightenment or something, and they clearly are preyed upon by trolls and shills.

Thinking for yourself is the key, and looking for the answers only in the words of others is a surefire way to fail at finding the truth.

I mean don't get me wrong a conflict is entirely possible, it always was since the war never really ended.

Just saying that during my time in the Navy we raised our posture many times due to such threats by them, and nothing ever really happened from it.

It's never bad to keep and open mind, and consider all possibilities. Just don't think that this means war is imminent or anything due the the "information" in this thread.

Again just the opinion of one ex-military guy. Take it or leave it, it's up to you.

Ya, and it’s really too bad that doing that can actually escalate the situation into something worse.

It’s like the character Dr. Jeffrey Pelt said to the Soviet Ambassador in The Hunt for Red October:

"It would be well for your government to consider that having your ships and ours, your aircraft and ours, in such proximity is inherently dangerous. Wars have begun that way, Mr. Ambassador."

Amazing movie by the way, I might watch it soon because it’s been a while.
