I can understand a 9mm shortage, as its a defensive round still in use, but .22 LR... Is it not better to spend time on getting in shape, learn combat moves and battle field communication? Instead of spending precious ammo - dry practice? I would also talk to neighbors and friends, buy body armor, helmet, decent clothes, food, water, medicines, first aid... Join a militia? |

ROFL poor squirrels I guess you know some people are just buying it for currency after TSHTF or as an investment I would have sold most of mine if some SOB didnt break in and steal it all first. Shit, the ones in my yard are laughing it up b/c they knew about the shortage and I won't waste my ammo. That was until they met my little pneumatic friend. Hopefully there will not be a pellet shortage any time soon. |

If the max powder charge is 10 grains he has to put in 12 grains. He has locked up several revolvers. When he fires one round the other bullets in the cylinder jump crimp and move fowrad locking up the gun. Iguess thats why im iffy about usin reloads. I have some other buddies that reload and have no trouble though. Every time my cousin drops by he always brings me some of his newest reloads. It looks like a hammer, it lets you pull the bullet apart safely (they are about $30), and pull the ones your cousin gives you apart. Then you can sell the projectiles and the cases to another reloader and use the money to buy boxes of ammo. CROW |

The problem is, if ammunition isn't readily available, few people will go shooting for enthusiasm/hobby/training. This will effectively shut down the gun culture in the States if it continues for an extended period of time, and that's what worries me about this 'shortage'. Let's hope it ends soon. |

Hard Eight User ID: 35278639 United States 04/01/2013 03:07 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | You are right on the remington .22. Ive had lots of bad rounds of theie golden bullets. You would think 40 SW would be hard to find since DHS bought so much of it. But around here its available but 8mm fmj is gone. Still finding 9mm hollow point but its really high. Quoting: Shadowdog 35582792 Same here. .40sw sporadic shortages. One day gone, next day I see boxes of ball. It almost made me wish I'd gotten a .40sw, but I don't like the recoil of it. Not a recoil wussy, it just never felt "right" to me. I can find the high-end self defense rounds in most pistol calibers, but ball? Forget it. And .22lr for fucks sake. WTF with .22lr? All I can figure is that it's easy to buy a shitload of it for 'cheap' (or it was) and everyone just bought the hell out of it. Give the .40S&W another shot through a CZ75 or Beretta 96. I sometimes find a few boxes of .40 when nothing else is available. 9mm is impossible to find retail but privately runs .60 to .75 a round for brass. I wish i would have bought more. Ishot it threw a hi point a glock and a smith 5904. All three guns worked perfect with it. It was accurate and shot clean. Ill buy more if i can find more. Has some wear but pretty good shape for a police gun. Came with 2 14 round mags and a holster. 400.00 bucks. One of my sons is using it for his daily carry gun. I dont think im getting it back. He loves it. He was carrying my early 60s model 37 Smith airweight .38. He wanted something that held more rounds. The nines alot bigger but he loves carrying it. |

Quoting: Shadowdog 35582792 Ha! That's a good one! I've been shooting for 45 years and I've had way more trouble with factory ammo than reloads. Of course they were MY reloads and not some moran reloads. Factory ammo is nothing but shit when it comes to accuracy. In pistols and bangety bang AR mall ninja rifles, I suppose it's ok, but when you want to actually hit what you aim at with an accurate bolt gun, FACTORY SUCKS! Of course the concepts of groups and accuracy are foreign to 99% of shooters. Get some loading equipment and learn how it's really done before you judge the most precision way to acquire ammo. |

I spend my days off driving to the local gun stores to make friends and see whats in stock. Just bought a brand new browning hi-power for my dads b-day and only one shop in town has 9mm ammo. Target rounds, Winchester white box 100 rounds for $33 plus tax. Winchester Ranger Hp+p rounds are going for $23 for 50rounds. Guess I'm lucky to find this spot. Buying what I can now because who knows how long they will be in stock. My guy has great connects mainly because he deals with LEO and he can't justify price gouging. He got 56,000 556 62grain hp rounds and was selling them at $800 for a 1000. It took him ten days to sell out of that stuff........Scary:(:yoda: |
