Re: North Korean Timeline of Escalating Threats
What is all this talking about Japan? I'm sure that, given time, China is going to surpass Japan technologically... its not like Japan is some unstoppable force of destruction and innovation. China is getting there (of course they are stealing a lot of tech ultimately, but I'm sure once they become a somewhat developed nation they will start to innovate).

Of course, if Japan rearms itself the game will change dramatically, but I'm sure you guys will not dominate Asia anymore, anytime soon, since the chinese awakening.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 16790717

They already have. They are using drone tech to make massive swarms to attack naval fleets and bases and troops on the ground. They have the resources to pull this off. They have what the media calls a growing problem in video game addiction in their youth. They can easily supply thousands of drone operators to make this a reality. Imagine seing nothing but a darkish sky getting closer and closer than unleashing a fury of missiles down the Naval pacific fleet. Imagine convoys of marines having to deal with this shit. It's scary but my bet is china is quite now, but planning some biblical shit.

They still rely too much in foreign tech and inventions tough, instead of focusing in developing in house. Will take some time.

Re: North Korean Timeline of Escalating Threats
Here's a list of of events that have taken place within the DPRK in the last few months...

Dec 12, 2012: North Korea successfully launches three-stage rocket and places satellite in orbit. Seoul, Washington and UN condemn launch as a covert ballistic missile test.

Jan 22, 2013: UN Security Council passes a resolution condemning North Korea's rocket launch and tightens existing sanctions.

Jan 24: North Korea's National Defense Commission says it will proceed with a "high-level nuclear test".

Jan 25: North Korea threatens "physical counter-measures" against rival South Korea.

Feb 12: North Korea conducts a third nuclear test.

Feb 26: North Korean leader Kim Jong-Un oversees a live-fire artillery drill aimed at simulating an "actual war".

March 1: South Korea and US launch annual "Foal Eagle" joint military exercise.

March 5: North Korea says it will scrap armistice that ended the 1950-53 Korean War.

March 7: North Korea threatens a "pre-emptive" nuclear strike against the United States and South Korea. The United Nations adopts tougher sanctions on Pyongyang over its nuclear test.

March 8: North Korea announces the voiding of non-aggression pacts with South Korea and severs a government hotline with Seoul. Kim Jong-Un tours frontline island units and vows "all-out war".

March 11: South Korea and US launch annual "Key Resolve" joint military exercise.

March 12: Kim Jong-Un threatens to "wipe out" South Korean island of Baengnyeong.

March 15: Defense Secretary Chuck Hagel announces plans to bolster US mainland defenses against a possible North Korean missile strike.

March 18: US Deputy Defense Secretary Ashton Carter promises to provide South Korea with every military resource under the US nuclear umbrella.

March 19: US publicises flights by nuclear-capable B-52 bombers over South Korea as part of "Foal Eagle" exercise.

March 21: North Korean army threatens strikes against US military bases in Japan and Guam in response to B-52 flights.

March 22: South Korea and US sign new pact providing for a joint military response even to low-level provocation by North Korea.

March 26
: South Korean President Park Geun-Hye warns North Korea its only "path to survival" lies in abandoning nuclear and missile programmes. North Korea's military puts its "strategic" rocket units on a war footing, with fresh threat to strike targets on the US mainland, Hawaii and Guam and South Korea.

March 27: North Korea cuts last remaining military hotline with South Korea.

March 28: The United States deploys two nuclear-capable B-2 stealth bombers on "deterrence" missions over South Korea. Hagel says US ready for "any eventuality."

March 29: Kim Jong-Un, vowing to "settle accounts," orders missile units to prepare to strike US mainland and military bases in the Pacific.

March 30
: North Korea declares it had entered into a "state of war" with South Korea.

They're at the end of the road. They've made a declaration of war against the South and as you can see within the timeline, under new leadership they've been keeping more of their promises.

Why now though? Why all of a sudden?

Look no further then China.

WW3 will begin as a war by proxy. All the superpowers have their own pieces to play before they get directly involved themselves.

I'm glad I'm 4F! Ahhhhhh! It's gonna be rough, real rough, kickin' back at home while all these dumbfounded latte sippin' metrosexuals get pressed into the military to be used as bayonet fodder for the Norks. It's a reall cryin' shame I tell ya! HAHAH!

But seriously, it won't come to that probably. And all this stuff about PRC backing up DPRK misses the forest for the trees -- sure they back them, to a POINT. The PRC is clever and you can't think of their motivations in linear terms. The DPRK is full of brainwashed Communist idealists --- maybe not the very upper ranks who know its all BS, but the bullwarks are die hards. Now, if DPRK COLLAPSES, and they reunify with ROK, then what do you have? A fourth generation warfare nightmare, because the ROK has to integrate all these hostile elements who can act as spies and lackeys and what not.

So what would PRC have at that point? Well, it would have a Korean with which it shared its border, which has all the modern technology that the PRC covets and has set out it wants to acquire in its latest five year plan (semiconductor process control tech, etc etc). This new Korea would be filled with the perfect recruiting pool of highly motivated spies which could be used to infiltrate these techology firms like Samsung, Daewoo, Kia, Lifes Good, all the contract fabs, assembly facilities, etc. I used to work for an avionics contractor here in the US, and we made ONE part for the ROK's copy of the F-5 fighter --- they made all the other parts locally! The ROK also manufactures a local copy of the F-15 eagle! Think about the factories and engineering plans of all of that falling into PRC control, heh.

And the LORD spake, saying, "First shalt thou take out the Holy Pin, then shalt thou count to three, no more, no less. Three shall be the number thou shalt count, and the number of the counting shall be three. Four shalt thou not count, neither count thou two, excepting that thou then proceed to three. Five is right out. Once the number three, being the third number, be reached, then lobbest thou thy Holy Hand Grenade of Antioch towards thy foe, who being naughty in My sight, shall snuff it.
