Question to Muslims: Why do women have to wear veils to cover themselves?

becuase the sun demands them to do so, or their heads will burn, thats what the quran is actually trying to tell mulsims. They just cant understand the metaphors

Because women should cover themselves for their beauty I should be saved and preserved. Some of the traditional Muslim wear is very gorgeous and feminine.
Children do not wear burkas or anything like that.
At 40c it makes more sense to cover your body with something light and breathable than to wear less clothes. Even women here in Japan tend to cover more of their skin during the summer to protect from sun and heat.
I personally find many Muslim women extremely gorgeous.

Even in the not so distant past, it was very common place for American women to cover most of their body. In pioneer days, it would have been offensive to see a respectable woman's leg above her ankle.

A lot of it is traditional, my english grandma used to wear a scarf and in Greece, spain, italy many little villages women wear veils.
Religiously speaking christians and jews have an obligation to wear a veil muslims dont.

Women in historic time from Blessed Mary and all the Christians in time of christ and before being infiltrated by the pharos and pegan worshiping elite rule COVERED THEM-SELVES. EVEN JEWS OF THAT ERA AND BEFORE, THE WOMEN COVERED THEMSELVES. Covering was a motto for the those who followed the divine religions until the ruling elite (the royalties, etc..) infiltrated and CHANGED IT TO THEIR BELIEF AND WAYS.

Its a matter of respect. The covered women has more respect then the uncovered one.

In Islam god says the number one and the highest desire of a man is women. men think about women a lot of the time and for a women to KEEP HER HONOR IS TO COVER HER SELF UP IN THE PUBLIC.
IN ISLAM the only people that can see a women uncover her hair is the father, brother or the husband. Others are forbidden because of the slightest desire that may stir up.

A father always care about and respects her daughter. A brother the same for his sister. Only a husband can love the wife as to save her infidelity.

I must say from a spiritual viewpoint, the reason they cover themselves up and the men insisting for this, ironically means that the men are spiritually failures.

I once saw one man explain with self-righteousness and utter conviction why women should wear veils. He was so convinced of his beliefs, he felt that God would applaud him.

He was saying that women need to cover so men do not feel desire for them.

But ironically, his belief is WRONG. Each individual is responsible for their own desires, and fighting temptation is the purpose of life. Otherwise if you are running away like a little coward from temptations, its like cheating and being a loser.

I say this as someone who has grown around people with the Muslim culture and understand their beliefs quite closely.

I think women and people in general should definitely wear more respectable and graceful clothes to cover themselves. I do not agree with short skirts, showing their cleavages or women strutting around like animals because they have failed to their vanity and desire to copulate. Most people, are just like monkeys looking to please their genitalia, and I have no respect for them either. The ego enjoys seeing skin, so it would not like the idea of not having it's sight pleased. And people would even come-up with philosophy as to why women should show skin. And that is something to ashamed of too.

That being said, you can not enforce peoples freedom of what they have to wear. You are responsible for your own feelings. And if Muslim men are insisting that women cover themselves up like that, irrespective to the temperature or working out in the gym, it is a sign of EXTREME STUPIDITY, and lack of control over ones own feelings.
