Quoting: nutmeg I'm assuming this is the most up-to-date information: March 24, 2013 "Naval Special Warfare (NSW) is comprised of approximately 8,900 total personnel, including more than 2,400 active-duty Special Warfare Operators, known as SEALs, 700 Special Warfare Boat Operators, also known as Special Warfare Combatant-craft Crewmen (SWCC), 700 reserve personnel, 4,100 support personnel and more than 1,100 civilians." [link to navyseals.com] The Navy would like to cut that number in half and then start over. They are also cleansing the Intelligence rates (CTs and otherwise). This should be an ongoing process for the next couple years. Just giving the latest information....March 24, 2013! There are some people who think there are only a handful of Seals. Just read some of the GLP threads! There are not thousands in Seal Team 6 which is why the fact that only Seals from that team are dying is very suspicious. I KNOW there aren't thousands in SEAL team 6. Sheesh! Someone asked how many SEALs there were! If you read this (below)...my husband, a military officer, worked for JSOC, at Ft. Bragg. Canopy traffic is generally one of the more dangerous aspects to skydiving. Several pages of canopy collsion deaths here..you can see how common it is.
