JULES77 User ID: 32768574 United States 03/30/2013 06:32 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I wonder why all agencies are so screwed up on 'one' quake....never saw that happen before. So was there one, two, or three. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 37151374 there are different types of websites: "official" agencies - they record the data (there are many other agencies around the world) example - [link to earthquake.usgs.gov] "compilers"-the gather the data from the different agencies. (for example kayak.com for earthquakes) so this is why you get multiple readings for earthquakes at these websites. they list where from under the "source" column example- [link to quakes.globalincidentmap.com] I hope this helped. |

So was there one, two, or three. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 37151374 One more thing. I would take an educated guess that the reason that the different "official" agencies have different reasons are: 1. different equipment. -some newer, some more accurate, different technologies...etc 2. some agencies equipment are closer to the source thus they can get a more accurate reading. 3. can anyone else can explain? |
