Please, give me your input on dental implants..
I am losing my two front teeth because of an incompetent dentist grinding them down so much that they will not hold another cap. Should I get a denture or go for the $7,000 implants?

Why not a denture initially if you can't afford an implant then get implants later after you have saved money, and taxes, in a health care savings account.

Re: Please, give me your input on dental implants..
I had to have an implant on my lower left molar second from the back. My friend is a dentist, and I have a background in Biology, and if you pull out the teeth you can lose bone density in the surrounding bones. It was a long and uncomfortable process, as at first I found myself constantly tempted to play with it with my tongue, and you still have to clean carefully around it. Someone else I know had their whole mouth done at the same time, and they said the teeth felt like foreign objects at first and it is hard to gauge pressure at first. Once you get used to them, if they are lined up properly and evened out, they aren't even perceptible. If you grind your teeth, you may have to get a bite guard to wear at night to help from clenching, I found myself clenching more during the adjustment period.

You have to clean around them well, and I would suggest a waterpik, and some of those wirebrush picks. I had tooth trouble because for many years I didn't floss. Flossing makes a huge difference. For tooth pain, I have found oil pulling (swishing) for 20 minutes after flossing after every meal or 2 times a day, will turn it way down, and promotes healing of any issues. It saved me from root canal.

Don't kill the living root or you will never get your
teeth back.
If the root is intact then look at that recent technology which claims to regrow teeth from roots.
I would try this first you have nothing to lose.

Google regrow teeth.

I have TEN implants. My case was a rough one. Had multiple bone grafts and a sinus lift to accomomdate implants in that area. All together 14 surgeries. If you are having only two, that should be a breeze. Find out though if you have enough bone to support the implants. If not, it could be a more difficult procedure, depending on the bone situation.

After all I went through, the multiple surgeries, the pain, the time (two years), tons of money, if I had to do it all over again I would not hesitate. My teeth are beautiful and feel just like my own (they are).

Just make sure you have the right oral surgeon or prosthodontist and ask a lot of questions.

Good luck!

Personally I hate partials. To me, any teeth that you can take out of your mouth and put down on table sucks. Especially for the front. One can be 35 yrs. old, and once that partial is out of your mouth you'll feel like you're 80.

OP, if you have the opportunity to get the implants, go for it. I know a lot of people with implants, from one to multiple, and they all are happy with them. The key is getting a good doctor to do the procedure.

A regular dentist should not do implants. You probably know this but since you mentioned "dentist" I thought I would throw that out there. I had an oral surgeon who only does implants. That's his specialty. I had so many problems and he was a genius. The regular DDS will do the finishing work (attaching the "tooth" to the implant). So that dentist needs to have experience doing his part as well, obviously.

 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 37153566

This is an option as well. Over the years I've had several permanent bridges. They would grind down the teeth next to the missing two and put a four-tooth bridge. I know you probably aren't crazy about any more teeth being ground down, but if you have the right dentist it should be fine. I've never had my teeth ground down too much. I never even heard of that being a common problem.

The bridge will probably cost half or more of what the two implants cost, so it may be worth it to go with the implants.

Vacations in England, huh
1 John 1–3._ 1Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits, whether they are of God; because many false prophets have gone out into the world. 2By this you know the Spirit of God: Every spirit that confesses that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is of God, 3and every spirit that does not confess that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is not of God.

Here's your best bet....

[link to www.ceraroot.com]

non metal, more expensive yes...but do the research and you will find these are the best, no reaction like the titanium..

I researched and found you can get in India for $800 per tooth, (I am considering)

Costa Rica is not $700 even for Titanium...less than here but not that cheap..

I was thinking about getting one for a missing tooth on my upper right side. X-rays showed my sinuses were too low so I was not a candidate. Besides, it sounded way too painful for me, as I have a pain thresh-hold of zero!

My husband, on the other hand, had one put in on the bottom right. Pain was awful! He's a real tough manly-man, but the pain really got to him. Once the pain subsided (I'd say 2-3 days) and he got his new tooth, he LOVED it. He can eat whatever he wants. However, says he would never do it again.

No reason for him to have pain for 2-3 days. I had the worst case of anyone I've ever heard and I never had pain last more than a few hours after any of the many surgeries. And I never had to take more than one prescription painkiller and a couple of Tylenol.
