I left cold, snowy Ohio on March 6 and arrived in AZ on March 8th, it is beautiful here and in the 80's during the day

Friendly poeple, it,s just the greatest place on Earth! Very bad economy! Don't want to build it up to much! Getting a job is ruff now? In 2000 , unemployment was 1% and those folks were losers! It was boom city!

Short growing season. Near inactive but not extinct volcano. Very high elevation. Lots of useless college kids. Not very far from a pit of pure republican evil. No, horrible place for shtf.

Nah he asked if it was a good area if shit hits the fan. You'd be better off finding an isolated part of Verde Valley, or White Mountains. Flagstaff itself has too many people to make it without starvation if they had to live off the land until sufficient farming could be figured out. Plus it is on two major highways, would be a strategic control point in no time.

You're awesome! I'm where I'm at (like you) to help my elderly parents, but seriously want to relocate to AZ one day.

I met a lady here who was born/raised in AZ, she was in my state, taking care of her ill son (small world)....anyhoo, she said the hot wx scares people from moving there, but you adapt to it & it's not terrible because its not humid. I'd love your input :)

What type of person are you.

If you are material then Scottsdale, AZ is my recommendation.

Phoenix is like Los Angeles or any other shitty large metropolitan city, but hey you can at least carry a gun legally without a permit.

If you are into being in a safe location, growing your own food, having your own well, etc., then I have other recommendations for you.

Our growing seasons are short. I highly recommend raised beds, and a greenhouse.

Been in my undisclosed area of AZ for about 2 years, and I personally love it.

Lot's of AZ has 4 seasons and in the higher elevations we are usually 20 degrees cooler than Phoenix.

I am waiting to hear from you, in regards to what type of person you are, and what you are looking for, then I can advise you a bit better.

Personally, I would stay AWAY from ALL large cities. This is me though, and I do NOT tell people what to do, even if it is to their own detriment.

My town is kind of small. Mainly white people, which kind of shocked me since I escaped form Los Angeles, CA about 2 years ago. Got nothing against any colored people as long as they are good. I am simply telling you that my town is probably 85-90% white.

Look if your in Flag? It's mountains , cold winters and hot summers but still very mild for AZ! Now, down in the valley in PHX? Very hot summers , very warm winters! It's 4 months of hell, 8 months of heaven? Once again , have a job before you get there ? Many starve out just like Alaska ? The west is not for everyone and it truly is wild!
