Lucky guys we have to pin all centrefire semi magazines to 5. Pistols are allowed 10 but we can't carry them anywhere but locked up to a range and straight back home to the locker.

It's a crazy thought but we need to somehow find a 'break glass in case of' alternative. Rather than allowing the public to own these weapons, in a perfect world they would be in a nice giant warehouse ready for us to sort out our governments. Yes is it ironic how limiting our magazine capacity just makes us better at reloading.

Still, volume of fire is incredibly important in a situation such as this. Many shots won't be hits under such a unexpected stressful situation, no matter how well you group on the range. When it's not practice time anymore you can't waste those precious seconds when lives depend on it.

unless you're gonna get a belt fed weapon with a number two to keep clipping the belts together and change and cool the barrels, you're gonna have to reload.

I know you guys down under have little access to semi autos with normal capacity magazines and I'm proud of you for making up for lack of firepower with training and skill.

Still, there is a good reason 30 round magazines are the standard for any short to medium range fighting platform. It's the perfect balance between weight, maneuverability and sustained firepower.
