Yeah things are just extra screwed up here in Canada. We can use 10 round pistol mags but you would be hard pressed to follow the storage laws and use a pistol effectively for home defense. All our STANAGs are pinned to 5 besides a few which are intended for pistol type ARs. Of course they are in STANAG pattern and function in a standard AR amongst other rifles like the Benelli MR-1 but shhhh don't tell the anti's that.
In most cases any semi auto with a detachable magazine will be pinned to 5 rounds up here.

The point of this thread is to demonstrate the purpose of standard/normal capacity magazines and that 30 rounds is not logically a "high capacity" for a magazine. 30 rounds are standard because when it's time to use the firearm for self defense you can't count on a fair fight, as clearly demonstrated in this video. Lucky for them the handgun was enough, and sure maybe he even only pulled the trigger 5 times, but if it were you in that situation, would you want 5 or 30 rounds between you and a dozen plus armed men with obvious intention to do you serious harm? Okay so back to reality here in Canada, like I said before I'm glad that I live in a safe place and I recognize that in all likelyhood the only home defense I will be doing with my firearms is against nuisance varmints and wild critters (god willing). I don't live in Toronto so I don't have to worry about black gangsters shooting up shopping mall I'm in while I'm just trying to find the Orange Julius.... Thread: Shooting at an upscale mall in Toronto, Canada - 1 person dead. gun love is just fear. why stop at 30 rounds? why not a bazooka, some grenades.. why not walk around all day everyday in full body armour, you know, just in case. i did live in Toronto, in the most dangerous part of the city, and took public transportation and walked around by myself at night. only got killed twice. Well I think you might be lying about the last part so that sort of throws your whole statement into suspect, but you must have left for a reason. Maybe because it isn't safe anymore. Whenever I talk to girls who come from Toronto they always mention how they never felt safe on the street at night. A carbine rifle with a 30 round mag is the right tool for the job, and less so a handgun with at least 10 rounds but preferably 15. Bazooka, grenades, not so much. I could probably sell a lot of body armour in Toronto with the almost daily gangster shootings going on there lately. Better to just shoot first though.
