Not really.

But seriously if the USA thought it stood a chance. Especially after what happened in 1958, dont you think they would have already attempted to go after the big boys? Nah, I don't think so.

The USA can mess with the little kids on the playground, but it can't fuck with the big boys. Just saying.

I agree that it's an important question.

The First Korean War proved that North Korea not only stood a chance against the U.S but had the war practically won against the U.S and combined U.N forces by September 1950 until a gargantuan effort pushed them back to the 38th parallel. That is when China entered the war in overwhelming numbers and the Armistice was signed.

As for a U.S war with China, there are more variables because of China's economic and political leverage (not to mention their ICBMs capable of wiping out multiple U.S targets worldwide). That kind of war would be a global theater war and probably involve Russia, India, Japan and NATO.

To answer your question simply, it is more likely that the U.S would succeed in a truce with China than it would with North Korea. That said, it means North Korea and its 9.3 million (active + reserve troops) would fight until every one of them is dead or dying. That makes victory a lot less certain for the United States.

It is fanaticism versus pragmatism. In that scenario you want to be fighting the pragmatist, just as a pit bull would rather fight another pit bull than a rabid starving Rottweiler.

usa would totally bankrupt itself fighting a war with north korea, this will be 100 times worse then iraq and 100 times longer.

not to mention all the civil unrest on their very own soil.

good luck with that

Re: does the u.s have a better chance against china or north korea?
Both the Korean and Vietnam wars were proxy wars between China/Russia and the USA. Both designed by bankers to maximize profits by supplying both sides with armaments.

Russian, Chinese, Korean, Vietnamese, American makes no difference, so long as those at the top can consolidate power while turning a profit.

Now if China stayed out of it (fat chance), and America waged a true war of aggression (none of this police action or winning hearts and minds BS), then it would be a slaughter.

As there is less money for the military/industrial complex in winning a war, my money is on N. Korea and another 50 year stalemate.

NC and China are the same thing.

So, no, the US has no chance. They would have to use nukes, because there is no taking on the Chinese Army, despite what any chest thumper will say. Once the first nuke is launched, the entire World gets fried, and you stupid "who is better" question can die as well.

You guys have a lot of facts wrong. First of all, 1950's warfare vs modern warfare. You can't compare the US military in the 50's that did not have spy satellites, guided missiles, precision bombs, stealth bombers, barely any jets and many other huge game changers we have today.

The US would absolutely obliterate North Korea's outdated military in weeks, not months. The US has 12 aircraft carrier battle groups, just one group has more firepower than all of North Korea's outdated navy combined.

And I highly doubt China is going to risk a war with the US to defend North Korea, more like they will put their troops on the border in an attempt to stop refugees from crossing over.
