That's the paradoxical scenario gaining credibility among many climate scientists. The thawing of sea ice covering the Arctic could disturb or even halt large currents in the Atlantic Ocean. Without the vast heat that these ocean currents deliver--comparable to the power generation of a million nuclear power plants--Europe's average temperature would likely drop 5 to 10°C (9 to 18°F), and parts of eastern North America would be chilled somewhat less. Such a dip in temperature would be similar to global average temperatures toward the end of the last ice age roughly 20,000 years ago. ... Some scientists believe this shift in ocean currents could come surprisingly soon--within as little as 20 years," [link to science.nasa.gov] We all breathe the same air. .-.. --- ...- . / .- .-.. .-.. |

Tis about an ice age that hits and causes a world war over resoreses. The economy is doing great. More green shoots each day. Consumer confidence is great. Unemployment is dropping. Stocks are soaring. Europe is saved. I like flouride. Chemtrails are pretty. FEMA camps sound fun. ~Anonymous Coward 1382145 No nation has ever benefited from prolonged war. ~Sun Tzu |

THE ONLY WAY TO STOP IT IS TO GIVE AL GORE ALL YOUR MONEYS!!!! No ones asking you to do anything other than shop till you drop last I had a look at our leaders. Oh yeah, they may ask you to occasionally save a penguin, but I seem to recollect that keeping up with the Joneses was a virtuous act of noble proportions. Strange fellow. Methane is what to look for, Our entire seabed is filled with Methane lakes...just waiting for our oceans to heat up enough for the liquid state, to turn to gas, override the pressure, and release to the surface...Permian extinction all over again...95% of DNA destroyed...no biggy for earth... only be the 5-6th time to do it... |

The climate is stable, has always been stable, and is only now becoming unstable due to human induced climate change. Bet this "scientist" is on the Koch brothers payroll. The only way to save planet earth is for mandatory carbon taxes, administered by the U.N., and global worship of Al Gore as the Jewish messiah. The U.N must also institute a Tobin tax............... |

I recall something called the Milancovitch cycle? (Not sure of spelling) basically as our solar system passes through the maximum gravitational pull of the elliptical plane of our galaxy we're all pulled together a bit more so we're closer to our Sun, hence warmer. Then as we pass away from the elliptical plane we get cooler again. I believe his math coincided with the end of the 'age of the sun' that everyone was prattling on about from the Mayan calender. So yes cooler times predicted. In fact geologically our little planet has been a ball of ice, more times than it has warm. Aren't we technically in the middle of an 'inter-glacial' period? Yes I do also believe the carbon emissions market is complete vs for the moneymakers also, hay while the sun shines you might say... |

[link to en.wikipedia.org] Many of these self-proclaimed Marxist nations (often styled People's Republics) eventually became authoritarian states, with stagnating economies. This caused some debate about whether Marxism was doomed in practise or these nations were in fact not led by "true Marxists". Critics of Marxism speculated that perhaps Marxist ideology itself was to blame for the nations' various problems. Followers of the currents within Marxism which opposed Stalin, principally cohered around Leon Trotsky, tended to locate the failure at the level of the failure of world revolution: for communism to have succeeded, they argue, it needed to encompass all the international trading relationships that capitalism had previously developed. |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 37178113 United Kingdom 03/31/2013 02:04 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | scientists studying the last ice age concluded that plants had been flash frozen, the study which took place somewhere in south america ( i can't recollect exactly where ) showed ancient vegetation which was discovered as the ice line has been retreating on a mountain range, the retreating ice, some scientist attributed to global warming, has opened new land to study which has remained untouched for thousands of years. scientists found plants that looked as if they had been flash frozen, leading many theorists to say that the ice age was not a gradual process but rather a swift one. The problem with this field of study has always been the same, alot of it's fill in the blanks as we do not have enough evidence. was it a slow process that speeded up or a fast process that slowed down? we will only have a definitive answer when we actually experience it. I personally believe that mankind currently faces obstacles much graver than a impending ice age, obstacles that must be resolved if humanity is to truly thrive. My words are my own, but they are shaped by my desire to see humanity freed - A Palatine |
