Scientist predicts earth is heading for another Ice Age

Local record low temps and simultaneous global average temp increases don't dispel each other. Melting ice sheets can cause change in the oceanic conveyer belt, causing weather patterns to change. Now cold fronts are lingering where they normally wouldn't and the jet stream is dipping south more than it should causing less tropical storms heading north and more arctic storms coming south.

It's not a new idea. The scary thing is that this is exactly what we were told should happen as undergrads 20 years ago... if the Arctic warms, then meltwater will lower the density of the Arctic Ocean, preventing the sinking of the North Atlantic Drift and the cutting off the global oceaninc heat conveyor. The result? As most of the world warms, some parts (like the UK) end up much, much colder...

I find it rather interesting that things that were academic ideas a couple of decades ago are now actually happening - and much faster than predicted. As someone else said, if we add in mass methane release then all models are off, and we're basically stuffed. I never liked tomaotoes anyway.

Yesterday I've been to one of those garden center/DIY places. They had moved all the garden plants they usually sell in their outdoor area indoors. For example, the aisles were full of trays with young strawberry plants. And nobody buys them, because who would buy strawberry plants just to kill them with cold weather & night frosts?

I have also noticed that tomato plants are gone ,this is a massive conspiracy with the government trying to tell us its the end ,lucky I still have a few left but they are babies , wont someone think of the baby tomato plants

Earth is always heading to a new ice age because of the earths wobble. We will be heading into a new Ice Age but it will take another 5000 years so we have some time.

but still this weather is well and truly screwed up you can't even go by seasons to do anything, what will be interesting is if the farmers say anything about it all in regards to crops I know life stock has been hit hard in Scotland.....
