We all know the Pagan origins of Easter, Christmas, and Halloween, you don't have to keep reminding us.

We all know that the Catholic Church had arbitrarily changed the Feasts of the Lord for pagan holidays, and had changed Shabbat for the Christian Sabbath. But that's our fault because we never questioned these practices. This always seemed at the least to be disingenuous and incongruent to me.

Nowhere in the Bible was anyone given the authority to change appointed times or an appointed day of rest and worship.

We know crucifixions occurred during time of Jesus's life.

Forensics evidence of crucifixions.
Documentation of Romans crucifixions- the victims were nude.. part of the punishment- evidence by documentation eye witness, multiple accounts.
Morality of the time, role of women and modesty.. documentation, multiple accounts.

Better than average evidence that if any women were present would have been far enough away from the scene so they were not exposed to the nudity of the men being crucified.
So, one can surmise the women (Mary, Mary, and Mary).. Mother, Wife, Aunt were at a distance from the cross.

At some point, Jesus instructs John to take care of their mother, Mary.
Although the account in the Bible says this conversation occurred just before Jesus died on the cross, most doubt that.. Mary wouldn't have been close enough to the scene to hear anything but screaming.
The logical thinking is that this conversation would have occurred right before the crucifixion.. such as a modern day "do you have any last words" situation.

Being that Mary, Mary, Mary were mentioned being there to prepare the body for burial, it's safe to assume they were indeed present.
Based on what information we have.. accounts report that John was there.
John should have been there.. he was going to be the oldest surviving son, and would have had to assume the responsibility of the family.
Joseph is not mentioned, one could assume Jesus's father was deceased, therefor.. without a doubt the responsibility would have fallen to John.
Increasing the likelihood he was in fact there.

So, if it happened.. I personally think that's they way it most likely would have happened based on the information we have available.

Not shocking, in fact expected.

They can't possibly salute every holiday of every religion and in fact they don't "do" religious holidays, but seeing the face of a civil rights advocate whose birthday is officially celebrated in only three states was surprising to me.

They would have been wiser not to have anything, or maybe a token sunrise or just a nature scene. At Christmas they have a "holiday" doodle.

There are two billion Christians celebrating this day as the most significant holy day of the year, but let's just pretend it isn't happening.

I wouldn't have been surprised if they had depicted the Easter bunny and baskets of chocolate eggs.
