That depends on what the question is in reference to, if you're talking about within a Muslim caliphate or from the actual Shariah standpoint a short answer is yes but it's rare and very complicated and must include a confession 3 times in a row by the accused or in the case of witnesses their testimony will be heard and based on who they are(with relation to the accused or accusers) weighed. Vast majority of people killed because of adultery are killed by their families or spouse's family, honor killings are cultural among Muslims, Sikh, Jews, Hindus and Christians in parts of Asia, Africa and whats referred to as the Middle East. Honor killings are illegal in all of the countries they occur within, but like everywhere the law makes no difference to criminals. Most countries if you're caught for an honor killing especially Pakistan you will get the death penalty yourself. Though places like Pakistan, Saudi Arabia and similar countries that claim to practice Shariah are hardly reputable examples of true Islamic Shariah in practice.

I got the belt plenty when I was young. I was, however, never called a motherfucker or anyone vile name. I was sat down, talked to, and had the spanking explained to me. I then knew to never do it again.

^^^^ This! My mom used to wield a mean hickory switch. You can damn sure bet it got my attention, and made me think about why I got switched and was an absolute deterrent against doing whatever I did in the future.

In fact, I think I got off easy- I deserved every whipping I got, and there were plenty of times when I would have received a whipping if my mom knew what I'd been up to... I can only remember getting a couple from my dad, he was more of a "shamer" and to be honest, there were times I would have preferred a whipping over being made to contemplate what I had done.

Granted, the guy in the video does go overboard, but I think we need more parenting along these lines- I'd bet $100 these girls won't post any more twerking videos, and I bet they don't take part in any "flash mob" nonsense either...

Yes, parents need to discipline, but there is a difference between discipline and assault.
Not to sound like I'm a "know it all", but I did spank my children. After they got repeated warnings. Then he/she would have to go choose the wooden spoon they where going to be spanked with. One whack on the butt, then a very long talk about how they could change their actions.

My grown daughter told me awhile ago, "It wasn't the spanking that was bad, it was that TALK."

The decision to have children means you take the responsibility to raise and teach them. Disciplining a child requires that YOU are disciplined and make the commit of time, thought and YOUR actions so that the child can learn from the situation.

Grounding a child to their room is hell. It means YOU are grounded, because you have to be there to make sure the kid stays in their room. But, it gives everyone a "time out" to consider what just happened.

The man in this video was not acting as a parent.
He was punishing his CHATEL.
In the past, legally, women and children were CHATEL of the man: his property to do with as he pleased.

We are faced now with a "new society" of temptations, advertising and social manipulation of our children...and adults.

Solutions within the family structure need to be restored. IMO those solutions come from people RESPECTING each other and COMMUNICATING what is happening around us...and what our reactions will be...as a FAMILY.

As a child, I was beaten (repeatedly) in the same manner these children were beaten. It is a horrible and terrifying experience to be physically beaten by the person who is supposed to love and protect you. Takes a long time to heal those scars.

I've made my share of my own mistakes, however, I decided my children would never be beaten. And they were never beaten.

My guess is the man in this video was also brutally beaten as a child. However, he did not make that decision to break the pattern of abuse in his own family.

Today there are lots of adults locked into the emotional scars from being physically abused as children. They are unable to relate to others, are triggered by certain words and actions. And then we have an entire society that is abusive.

Watch for those triggers, people. "Something" is pushing us all to violence in our human society. We need to step back and evaluate.

Are we going to be triggered into responding with violence (just as this man was)? Or are we going to step back and evaluate. Find a different course of response to those that want to digress humans into violence?

Think about your emotional response in viewing this video.
Did you want to beat the crap out of the man that was hitting the children?
Did you want to get right in there and hit the kids for their "bad behavior"?

Why? Why did you react this way?
And what can you personally do to help this family?

i read many of the comments before watchin the video just to see. i figured those yelling about abuse were just the usual whiners on here that sound like they live or want to live in hippie communes. so after finally watchin the video i'd have to say the punishment was not proper. there's no good lesson to be learned by the girls when they're chased by what looks like an out of control adult whipping around what looks like an electrical cord or rope. i only watched it once and i believe the second girl was gettin hit in the face a few times. that whipping instrument will leave scars on faces and other areas of the body that could mentally scare the girls for life. how do they go about life and explain why they have scars on their faces or other exposed parts of their bodies? many muslim men as well as other male dominated cultures love that kind of shit and we've probably all seen pictures and videos of horribly scarred girls in them. they do it for family dignity and shame without any care of whether the punished have any respect towards them or learn a lesson from it. i know it's not exactly the same punishment here, but now these girls may have lost complete respect for the adult. i don't know for sure, but i'm feelin like maybe he was punishing them more for him than to really teach the girls a lesson. any thought of those girls went out the door when he rapped the cord or rope around his hand and then flew into an uncontrolled rage and went for the face. with him bein so cold and totally out of control during the beating, the girls really only learned about pain delivered by an out of control person they love/d, resentment and fear. respect through fear is just not the same respect learned through a more controlled punishment. i'm not sayin they should not have received some form of corporal punishment, but how this adult went about it just ruined much of whatever good relationship he had with the girls. i wish we had a way to keep track of these girls over the next 5-10 years and see how they fare.
