Kids got what they deserved, what was the alternative a time out a sit down to rationalize with two probably disrespectful children who realize they can do what they want without consequence. When I grew up we would have a round two, one to punish for the action and a second to solidify the resolve. It worked wonders and am thankful my parents were strict in that sense. Looking back every time I had a switching it was well deserved.

again with the multiple beatins. if the first or second beatins were so good for learnin, why would you need any more than that. you really didn't learn how to stay out of trouble after the first few so how did it help you learn? with myself...i learned not to get caught. i can remember after one beatin at age 13 i went to the grocery store after my paper route and shoplifted beef jerky as well as 4 bottles of boones farm to share with my friends on a saturday night. my ass was still burnin when i rode my bike to do my route as well as when i was shoplifting. i found that i learned no respect for my father and the beatins he handed out. on a couple of occasions he even bashed my head into a cement wall and punched me in the face a couple of times too. one of those times broke my nose and cracked my cheek bone. i learned nothing but disrespect from those episodes AND continued shoplifting and committing an assortment of other crimes at a young age too. what finally stopped me from those things was seein others incarcerated for their actions like that, but the beatings did not help.

If you think this is punishment you sir are a danger to your children, I pray to god people who see this as acceptable NEVER have children.

Corporal punishment isn't a crime. It's a parental right. It's not meant for society, nor the government, to raise your kids. It's meant for you to. And, to teach them what is right and what is wrong. What is respectful, and what gives you the right to whip that ass when their not.

Yup, I have to agree with you I did not want to say this, but my dad used to punish me like this, it was brutal. My brother is in jail now because he got tired of it, and stabbed our dad to death. Violence breeds violence, I have anger management issues due to the abuse I suffered. People who think this is ok are frightening and should be culled from the human race.

Did I say NOT to discipline? I said that discipline is necessary.
There is a difference between discipline and brutal assault.

I've been there, done that.
Taken kids out of gangs. Fed and clothed them, when I had no money.
Gave them a safe place to be. Talked with their parents, who became my friends. Accepted the children and parents both as human beings and helped, listened and showed a different way to communicate. We worked towards solutions that were not violent.

There is a force greater than violence.

I believe that children should be the property of parents until majority. It's not that way legally in our country, but it should be. I didn't learn this from anyone else. I figured it out AS A CHILD because obviously my parents were more suited to supervise me than the adult legal system.

Human beings are not ANYONE'S property.
Parents are STEWARDS of their children's CARE and INSTRUCTION
It is not that you OWN your children, rather YOU are the person RESPONSIBLE for their care and for training them to respect others.
Beating a child does not teach them respect, beating a child teaches them FEAR.

When is the last time you sat down with your
4 year old, your 8 year old, your teenager
and ASKED them what THEY thought?

When they have done something that is "inappropriate", do you ask them WHY they did it?

Parents automatically assumed that their daughters are at fault here. But in fact it's quite the opposite!
