I'm in Manchester, UK. Couple of weeks ago, I bought a Sony Ericsson X10i of Ebay. It had a smashed LCD so I bought a new LCD screen and touch digitizer. Fixed and all perfect, I tried the phone on the three uk network and got a Sim lock, as it was tied down to the Orange network..

I got the phone unlocked for £5.00 and it was opened to any network. Tried my three sim card in it and it wouldn't work. I tried other sims from other networks and again, it wouldn't work. So, in the settings, I changed the network type to the 2G network and hey presto, 02 network sim worked perfectly and connected. On changing the setting back to 3G, it stopped working again...

I couldn't and still can't get the phone to connect to any 3G network. I have tried different custom roms, rooted it, unlocked the bootloader, changed the kernal version of it and everything, all to no avail. The phone has no hardware issues either as everything been tested. It will only work on the 2G networks, which isn't what I wanted.

Now, here is the interesting bit, I decided to check the compass on the phone and when I clicked the app, it said "Abnormal Geomagnetic Disturbance Detected" and it abruptly closed the app...I wonder if it is related.....

I have had a compass glued to my workbench the last couple years, since I saw a thread like this, I just checked it and it is the same, has not moved in nearly 2 years. Please educate yourself, walk around your home with a compass, the wires in the walls, tv, microwave all effect it, now place your compass on a table and move your cellular phone around it. MAG North is pretty much the same, when adjusting for declination according to your geographic location.

Moved 20 degrees lol you know how many problems that would create it's effect would be obvious and immediate.

It can't just move for some and not others, I am now setting up a webcam to take a Jpg every 2 30 seconds to an unused computer, I will report back.

Why all these confirmations, how can all of your compasses be off and mine not, I just double checked my glued one to my portable compass and it's reading proper. I am lost for words, I just want to be able to verify these claims without having to trust anecdotal "evidence"

Best comment on this thread, Also your iphone app compass is not a real compass, look it up. I can move my rare earth magnet compass with my iphone so how can my iphone be a compass, damn technology it's giving you all tumours now you can't think straight.

West Ky here, pulled the ole brunton out, unless my house moved with it I'm not seeing it

Mag north is constantly moving, look it up declination is a measurable effect since we had such measurements.

Mine isn't a phone compass.

there were a number of youtube videos out there recording it

I even have a couple in Christchurch

well, it's been a while but last night, we were camping and I heard "the noise" again about 1 or 2 am


went on for 30 minutes or so and then seemed to shift farther away

like it moved on--but the noise continued---just like it moved down the coast


we were north of Christchurch about 40 km at the beach

I haven't got a compass on me so I can't confirm any of this. However I have noticed that within the past week there has been a massive increase in animal die offs.

Seals, sea lions, manatees, dolphins, sharks, etc.

Internet service has been very spotty when on an average day it is damn near flawless, this has been the same with several friends I've talked to lately as well as on GLP.

Now I'm hearing of other natural phenomenon going on around Earth as well. My pets have been stuck to me like glue for the past couple days.

Something could very well be happening, all I know is I will be very pissed off if all you on GLP go, "APRIL FOOLS!" tomorrow.
