"A person is smart. People are dumb, panicky dangerous animals and you know it. Fifteen hundred years ago everybody knew the Earth was the center of the universe. Five hundred years ago, everybody knew the Earth was flat, and fifteen minutes ago, you knew that humans were alone on this planet. Imagine what you'll know tomorrow." |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 26174012 United Kingdom 03/31/2013 11:28 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | What happens with USGS, the quakes come in and they haven't been reviewed by a seismologist, as the quake comes in automatically... Once the data has been reviewed they either down/upgrade it and then post the quake details again...So, it may look like 2 quakes when in fact it was just one... That's the thing with Global incident maps and others, they don't delete the automatic EQ information that first comes through...Then when USGS send the information out again, it appears to be more than the one quake.... I have a widget on my Win7 and it first came through as a 2.9 but as soon as USGS reviewed it, it automatically changed to the new information of 3.2 mag....Global incident map and others should delete the old info as many people are sometimes freaking out on here thinking there is more quakes than there is... A good way to spot the duplicates on Global Incident Maps and others is to look at the time of the EQ...This will show it is a duplicate and the first one is wrong due it being reviewed and upgraded... You see Global incident map below, they have it listing 2 quakes when in fact it was just one quake..the giveaway, the time..Please remember this as this causes a lot of confusion... [link to quakes.globalincidentmap.com] Still, a 3.2 mag in Yellowstone is quite sizable but looking at google earth, it is a bit a way from the main volcanic area, so it shouldn't be something to worry about.. Here is the seismographs that have picked up the EQ... [link to www.isthisthingon.org] |

Unless it's at least a 6 no one cares. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 35409928 Harmonic quakes caused by magma are usually not as high as a 6. 2.5 to 3 sounds about right. But they would come in swarms, not a single incident. |

My thoughts also, coupled with the escalation in Korea. Folks around the country reporting loud booms. Whatever it is, just get here and get it over with. Notice how underreported these collective stories are? I didn't hear anything about Brazil also, though. |

VulkĂĄn 0 VulkĂĄn 0 USGS-RSOE Details [link to hisz.rsoe.hu] Look at the above times, the 2.9 was at 17:55 and the 3.2 is showing 18:11....That means it took USGS 16 minutes to review the automatic data that came in first and then re-posted it 16 minutes later to 3.2 and changed the depth. RSOE is wrong...Like I said, they don't delete the unreviewed data, just like Global incident map....Them sites show different times cause they are updated differently...That's why them sites are confusing people, because they don't delete the old data, whereby USGS do...Here, USGS says ONE quake: USGS (One Quake) [link to earthquake.usgs.gov] and the Seismographs show ONE quake: [link to www.isthisthingon.org] Believe me, I ain't a shill..I have a big thread on here about Yellowstone and if I thought they were hiding quakes, I would say so... |
