You regained your masculinity by leaving a letter, cleaning out your possessions and fleeing? HA! That is pretty cowardly in my book. Saying what you want without bothering to listen to a rebuttal?

And what is your part in your failed relationship? Or are you just a typical man blaming everything on the evil woman? What a weenie.

I'm FREE! I left this letter on the kitchen table. She gets back tonight but I will be gone. I feel so great.

Anne,

Iím writing this letter to you in hopes that it will help clarify a few things that youíve no doubt become aware of since you arrived home. The situation is exactly as it seems, I have left you. The plain truth is, I am no longer attracted to you. For the past few months I can safely say that I have felt physically ill in the morning when I wake up and see your face next to mine. Everything about you has become sour in my mind, even the way you smell. To be honest I find being around you draining, both physically and emotionally.

These issues are only surpassed by your negative and hateful attitude, which I might add has become progressively worse over the past year. You have become an egotistical, selfish and unimaginative person who rarely asks me what I need or want, in fact I cannot remember the last time you offered me anything of value. It baffles me that you show more passion for something like Dancing with the Stars or Idol than you do our relationship and our future. It stuns me that you cannot see how far you have fallen, how much dignity you have lost.

My limits have been reached and I have had enough. Your attempt to deprive me of my masculinity and sovereignty will no longer be tolerated. So this is where you find yourself, standing in the living room, stunned. Stunned because you never expected this, because you thought you owned me, you thought only you had the power to do something like this. The 46 inch flatscreen that you enjoy so much is no longer a prop for your moronic addiction. Go and buy your own. I have taken everything that I paid for (except the things which I bought for you). Keep the fridge (Iím getting a nice big one to reward myself for this amazing decision I have just made).

Finally I want you to look up the word Misandry as itís something you are unequivocally guilty of. You should be glad that for the first time in your life someone has actually called you out on your bullshit. You can either lie to yourself as usual or you can pick up the proverbial mirror and take an honest look inside.

Good luck

D

I recognize the emotions and feelings in your letter to
Anne, as similar feelings I had when I finally ended a relationship with an alcoholic chick a couple of years back.

While I do not know her or you or your situation, the descriptions you used for her behavior towards you also makes me a little suspect that she was carrying on a relationship behind your back. I assume you didn't know since you didn't mention it, or I guess you could have just decided not to mention it because you had no concrete evidence.

In my experience with my own relationships as well as being on the outside looking in of close friends with similar experiences, many of the ways she treated you was due to her feelings for someone else. In some sick way, she wasn't ready to walk away from you, maybe because she wasn't as confident as she thought she was or acts. Or because the other person she's seeing, treats her like she treats you.

Regardless, good job making a decision and going through with it. I applaud you for not doing it while she was home. 10 years ago, I might have called you a pussy for doing so, but time and experience has a way of showing us how little we really know in the grand scheme of things.

She might be hurting, as I'm sure you are, as breakups are never easy. Im not sure how long you 2 were together, but Im guessing it was at least 2 to 3 years or more.

Being gone and set up elsewhere by the time she got the letter, was a good move because you're not there with her to have to go through the argument and drama of the breakup and the possibility of staying together after both of you made promises to each other and yourselves that things could change and be better.

Posting here was your way of reaching out and getting some positive feedback to help the pain and healing process. Dont worry about the haters in your thread. Chances are most of em are still living at home in the basement at their parents, confident in their relationship with their fake Real Doll and knowing she never cheats, at least not until Pop's walks downstairs while they are out swapping soda cans for spending money, and Pops decided to bang the shit out of their "girlfriend".

Treat yourself. And before you start dating again, write down on a sheet of paper what attributes of her physical beauty and personality that you really loved, and on another sheet, write up what you didn't like. That way when you decide to move forward, you will have a list of the things that you find most attractive in a woman and the attributes that you found unattractive. You'd be surprised at how handy that can come in hand later when you are scouting potential dates.

Keep your head up and looking forward to hearing about how it works out for you later.

To all of you who are bitching me out for this, Firstly she was not my wife, she was my girlfriend. We did have talks and I did warn her that it would all be over very quickly if she didn't start treating me like a human being. She ignored my warning as I've explained in replies you probably didn't bother to read and so I made the decision to extricate myself from her presence. I did it via a letter because I didn't want to deal with sociopathic behavior while I was clearing out my stuff.

Honestly, what authority did you expect over a woman you weren't married to? You stated she worked. I assume you shared living expenses. Clearly you retained your own personal property. So under what moronic mindset do think she should have viewed you as a man?

You gain a woman's respect by earning it. You state you abhor feminism yet you had no complaints each month when she paid for her share of living expenses. I see so many men on GLP that rage on women for being feminist. You all want to be leaders unless it means forking over some $$$$.

I'm a stay at home wife. My husband works. The man doesn't do anything for himself other then wipe his butt. I have zero issue with that arrangement. He's paying the cost to be the boss :)

Figure out what you want before you get into another relationship...

BTW.... Today is the 31st did you leaver her hanging for the rent and utilities?

This made me think of one of my favorite movies: when I wake up in the morning and see your face it makes me physically ill and you stink...........LOL...I've watched this movie a hundred times. When she said I can't stand to watch you sleep, or eat and it makes me want to punch your face..........LMAO.....I have been married for 30 years. I can relate even though I'm still in love.

It's easy to tell the kiddies with little to no experience apart from ones that have zero luck with dating for whatever reason, and then the ones responding that clearly understand and have been there before.

For one - when he said he felt physically ill waking up next to her every morning and that she was unattractive and he hasn't felt attracted to her in a long time - He NEVER said she was actually unattractive now as compared to the beginning of the relationship.

Those reading this thread that can identify with the emotions of the OP already recognize what he's saying.

Now listen up boys and girls that are still new to dating: Her shitty attitude and the way she treated him is what lead to him finding her unattractive and the disgust from waking next to her. She could look even better than she did in the beginning. It's not her looks.

I've dated too many hot chicks that have piss poor attitudes and treat people like shit. That same chick you met that was so smoking hot, soon looks far less appealing because you no longer see the physical beauty. What you see is the "ugly" that is within her and slowly leaks out, day after day, until you don't even recognize her.

Hence the old saying "She may be hot, but somebody, somewhere, is already sick of her shit"

I don't want anyone thinking Im a misogynist. The above reference and descriptions works both ways, for a guy or a girl.

Again, I think you did the best you knew to do with the experience you've had with her in past arguments. At some point, your sanity took over and decided there was no way you wanted to do this face to face and risk the false promises both would make, and risk being in the same place again in 3 months.

You could have took the high road and left out the first paragraph, OP. If you are already leaving, no use rubbing salt in the wound by attacking her self esteem. You wouldn't enjoy a letter from a woman leaving you saying your dick is too small and you smell like ass or something.

You could have handled it a bit more maturely, but good luck with your future.

Hey OP you could've at least shown some creativity and either:

1) Hired someone else to give her the news. Maybe by phone. That would be fun and you could listen in.

2) Trained a parrot to give her the news. I like that.

You're gonna have trouble in life, pal. I just sense it somehow.

Any breakup that is without bloodshed is a "good breakup".

I also think that both the OP and his ex are better off without each other. Obviously the communication (from the Latin word: "communis", meaning to share) wasn't there from the start.

Make sure that your next relationship starts out by you being upfront with your expectations and what you will and will not tolerate. Allow your partner to express her expectations as well. If you can't find middle ground to build a lasting relationship on, why put in the labor?

One more point: The negative things you wrote about your ex in that letter are the very things that kept her from acquiring a better man that yourself. It's a universal law - I post it without personally passing judgment.

Re: A letter I just left for my Ex. I AM FREE!!!
Once you decide to break up, it is akin to planning a war. YOU want the upper hand, you want to prevent any issues with overly emotional people. So you plan ahead!

I was with my BF for two years, found out I was pregnant, at first he was happy, then for inexplicable reasons, turned sour on the situation, threatened to throw me down the stairs to cause a miscarriage if I did not abort. So I got the $600 from him told him I had the abortion, started saving money to move out. After he thought the abortion was done, he starts bringing another woman into our house. When I moved out, I left him a note on the bed, saying I did not go through with the abortion, used his money for a down pmt on an apartment and would be in contact. I had twins and owned his balls for 20 years. POS. He married that bitch and now has cancer and they are so estranged that he is basically sitting there alone, dealing with chemo and slugging down vodka all day long while she goes about her life. I hope he's enjoying reliving his stupid decisions as his life comes to a close. Karma's a bitch too.

Later married someone, found out from his best friend that he was cheating on me all over town (he told me later he was a sex addict) and planning to take some other chick on a vacation. While he was gone on his vacation, I moved out, taking everything, even the toilet paper on the holder in the bathroom. And taped a note to the door telling him why I was gone and divorced his ass. No way was I going to go through trying to sort through possessions with that POS after what he pulled.

Yeah, the element of surprise, when used on POS people, is a good time. If they were decent, you wouldn't be leaving them in the first place or, would treat them with some respect in the breakup. But when they do nothing but shit on you, they deserve NO respect and it's all about extricating with YOUR best interest in mind. So as a woman, I say congrats to the OP for taking his shot at a better life and going about it by doing what's best for him.

sure there was. I don't need the op to tell me that for me to know that. Nor do I need for him to write up a couple of volumes just so i can make a more accurate appraisal of the situation.

Im not implying he was the angel. I'm simply responding to him leaving and moving on the way he did.

You can use the best judgement / discernment in the world and it's still no guarantee that it's going to work out any better than it did. There are simply too many variables between 2 people in today's world.

Every tv show out there uses programming to teach both guys and girls to fuck who you want even if in a relationship or marriage. Screw the repercussions. Go out and find a new person or have multiple relationships. The law doesn't prohibit but it does prohibit the emotionally destroyed person in the relationship from getting answers or trying to talk to someone afterwards.

It's assault if you yell in a girls face and make them feel threatened even without any physical encounter. Yet, someone can cheat their ass off, take every dollar in their accounts and move off with the kids and a lover, and emotionally destroy someone to the point of insanity, but there's no law for that crime, although it's a hell of a lot more damaging than someone yelling in your face.

If we created a law against infidelity or at least locked down protocols so that there's no financial incentive for a woman to get married, cheat, and move on with someone else, taking an alimony check, half of their ex's pension / retirement, and a hefty child support order if there's children involved, you'd start seeing less of these cases. And maybe over 30 years, maybe the marriage to divorce ratio could go back to 1 for ever 4 instead of almost a 1 to 1 ratio.

That and stop promoting it like it's just changing your mind over a lunch choice, and you'd see a difference in the current trend.

That won't ever happen, because we know TPTB started a war on the family as we used to know it, in the past 50 years.

In any case, I'm still with the op. he took the same way out 99% of women do now-a-days, but at least he left a letter. Most of them now just stop communicating, disappear, and you get left with zero closure. Bravo for a guy doing the same thing, with the exception of leaving a letter so that she knew why he left, and in a manner to avoid drama that could escalate to him ending up in jail.

Re: A letter I just left for my Ex. I AM FREE!!!

BTW.... Today is the 31st did you leaver her hanging for the rent and utilities?

clappa ^^^ This coming from another woman I agree completly. This is very close to my heart. Guys please there are some woman like myself not very enamored with the whole feminism movement as time goes by I feel there are fewer and fewer. We would love to step back and let the men lead the household but you have got to make it easier on us. The stakes are too high too easily detrimental to our well being in the long run if we are not given a little bit of help to take the risk.We stand beside you wanting more than anything to be your partner, love you, and help you become more than you may have ever realized. You can't do that alone anymore than we can.

Good luck

D

Well at least you let her down gently... OUCH!

Also brave of you to put it into a letter.

Good luck to both of you however, I hope you both find someone lovely to share your lives with?

P.S. How does a woman deprive a man of his masculinity? Did her actions psychologically force you to go buy a handbag?
