I have a neighbor. He and his wife swear by his pendulum. They seem to be very happy and not a little different. I'll check out your book to have a common language with them. It should be easier than learning Mandarin. (that's a trip down a rabbit hole!).

When I was young it was common to hire a dowser to find water before digging a well. Don't think that's done anymore.

Thanks, OP, for the book. Will definitely read it. Dowsing is a powerful tool in many areas. But it seems some people are strong & others are not. I think it has to do with a person's faith in the validity of dowsing.

I always tell people who have no luck with the pendulum to start with rods & water dowsing. And once they see the rods cross over water lines/underground rivers they gain faith in it. It seems like a good place to start since people seem to have more luck with it to build up their faith & confidence to be able to advance to other areas of dowsing.

I started with water dowsing since my husband wanted a 2nd well on our property. I didn't have proper rods so just used coat hangers. I had forty acres to choose from but found a spot after about 10 minutes of walking. The drillers said it wasn't a good spot but my husband had faith in me and told them to drill in my spot anyway. We hit an artesian well! He built 2 ponds that it fed & then he built a 2nd home near it. My confidence was so elated after my first real try that I branched out into other areas of dowsing with success. Love it all. It's a fascinating subject.

Well, it IS easier than Mandarin for sure.. Having a brother living over in those parts of the world myself!

And yes, it is still done actually, dowsers are very active, quite oftenly for the governments.

Honestly, that is the issue with ALL "psychic abilities" - peoples own expectations and convinctions.

You cant do something, if you dont believe in it.

Rather, just give it a try, without expecting anything at all, to see how it goes..

Pendulums can be very useful for understanding one's inner mind - which is really what they reflect. As you say, they're not magic, or being controlled by some external force....it's you controlling the pendulum through the teeny little muscles in your fingers, so small and imperceptible we're not consciously aware of it. But it's a great tool for accessing your subconscious mind.

Please don't practice this stuff. It is against God who loves you but hates sins.

When you sow the sin of "divination" you will only reap curses upon your own head and the heads of your loved ones.

Don't do that because it will hurt you.

Please trust me about this... I have nothing I want from you but to be blessed and that is all God wants for you as well.

How about rods, better or worse than pendulum with regards to ideomotor response...

Yeah, it is a ideomotor effect, caused by the physical body responding to ones intuition, or "higher self".

There is no magic in the pendulum itself, it is all in the Mind/Soul.

I was told the pendulum reacts to ones personal energy waves. Mine swings in a circle for a no answer. Swings back and forthe for a yes answer.

not witch craft, but churches want you to fear this so you will seek them instead of talking to the divine in this matter

right to left for no

if there is a healing taking place, it goes in a circle until the healing is done, or the symbol is applied, or whatever action is occurring is completed. Then it finishes with a front to back for a yes.
