South Korea pledges "strong response" to North Korean "provocation"

South Korean President Park Geun-hye said on Monday there would be strong and swift military response to any North Korean provocation without regard to political consequences, after Pyongyang said at the weekend it was entering a state of war with its rival.

Preempting preemptive strike by preemptive preemptiveness?

People don't joke about this, not even in april fools...

My (pregnant) great-niece and her husband and their baby daughter are living in SK teaching school over there. I hope they get sent back to the USA asap, this is too nerve wracking.

Only time will tell what will come of this, but you can't deny this is akin to the Russian missile crisis in severity.

Not really this is worse.


At least with USA and USSR the two sides were talking to each other.

Nuclear OR missile attack?

At last check, NK's missile forces are on stand-by to fire.

This means that the South will definitely strike first.

If this happens and the South fires the first shot and initiates a war, will China'a attitude to not coming in on North Korea's side change?

Those shells could be used in an all out attack to clear the skies of any American presence.... for awhile while they initiate a more serious war.

But good luck getting the stealth planes. Most likely they will wait because they have a feeling the south might cock up the war delay.

the idea of a South preemptive attack will provoke North. If the North has already concluded nuclear war is inevitable (in the minds of their generals), that means the North must start it first according to the nuclear war logic. It is dangerous logic. South plays with fire because it will be hurt even if the North loses the war with USA. I can't say for China at this point, but seems to me the North got too fast those missiles and nukes. Perhaps clandestine help

This probably isn't going to end well. I can only hope that this situation calms down. For it seems to be getting a little bit out of control.

I will believe these war talk when war actually begins.
