Will all of our coming crippled and maimed soldiers be covered under Obama Care?
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 17969123

I think Obamacare is for civilians.
So, no way, not unless they're prepared to wait for a long time. The VA hospitals are all overflowing with troops already with long delays everywhere. This is due to the totally useless wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. Now Obummer is smart, he uses drones and proxies to fight the new wars. However there are still lots of troops moving into Africa. Some are in Colombia. The USA is an imperialistic (rogue) country, big time. If you got assets we need we will get them sooner or later. Watch out Venezuela. Maybe it's the plundering that keeps the US afloat since the country is for all intents, a financial basket case.

We could fix the majority of our debt "issue" real quick. Just tell them to "come and collect". Or,...start a regional war and wipe them off the planet. Debt = Gone. But, at what cost?
 Quoting: salty1

China much much much bigger than the US. Same nukes more people to through at us. We will be in even more debt. If this happens this war will last years and years and anyone under 60 will be on the front lines. Were out numbered.....
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 37022847

Except for the fact that it's 2013, friend. Part of our current 'projected' might consists of stealth technology that was developed over 30 years ago... one example of many. Technological advancements in the last 10 years alone render troop count far less significant than in previous large-scale wars. A battlefield or sizable EMP could leave a vast group of enemy troops without out orders.

Of course the, "you must have troops to occupy and win a war" rule stands. But with the technology that is available today, and looking back at what we knew and kept secret many decades ago, it's hard to think we don't have a counter to massive enemy troop numbers.

Poland might be used as cannonfodder even in Korea, because it has been a Western puppet state ever since 1989.

The warning came as The Washington Post reported that the North may be experimenting with a new type of nuclear bomb.

The newspaper says a successful test of a uranium-based bomb would confirm that Pyongyang has achieved a second pathway to nuclear weapons, using its plentiful supply of natural uranium and new enrichment technology."

You guys don't realize how bad the first Korean war was.

It was worse then any war we have ever seen. Korea was Vietnam, Iraq, Afghanistan all rolled into one.

In 1000 days more then a million people were killed. And many atomic bombs were dropped near Korea too show our determination too win.

400 Canadian soldiers fought off 4000 Chinese in one battle. Thats how intense it was.

At hamburger hill the Americans posted a sign saying "Abandon all hope those who enter"

Not a single light could be seen from North Korea at night after dropping 800 tons of bombs on them daily.

This will go WW3 if it goes down.

Look up the "Official" casualty report.

I personally know, myself included, friends & family that have been helped by them. Without the VA my Brother would have never received the proper care he needed.

Just remember, it's free to Vets and supported by the Government. Sometimes shit happens, but in most cases Vets receive great care.

We aren't going to be fighting any new Korean War.
When TSHTF Russia and China are going to wallop the
USA with an all out sneak nuclear attack, and when
we go down, the whole ballgame changes.
Japan, Taiwan, South Korea, and all of Southeast Asia
will fall into the hands of China, and Russia will
look a whole lot like the Soviet Union.
Europe will fall like a ripe fruit.

It's all pretty bad for whoever is on the receiving end of it.

The WP article was an interesting read , it went on to say...

"North Korea’s state-run news agencies said the country had “diversified” its nuclear stockpile with the new test. The declaration underscored concerns that the North had mastered a design that uses the country’s ample supply of uranium. North Korea’s plutonium stockpile consists of only a few dozen pounds of the gray metal, enough to build a handful of bombs. But recent visits to North Korea by U.S. nuclear experts confirmed that Pyongyang operates at least one uranium-enrichment factory, described by visitors as large, sophisticated and fully operational."

I can't help but think Kim has is being as bold and as threatening as he is because they are more advanced and prepared on the nuclear end of things.

Nobody really talks about a ground force offensive with NK, but I agree with you. With the amount of infantry they have it would be a human wave going against SK.

And while all of this is going on, let's not forget Iran. Or our actions (or possible ones) against Iran. Iran has been far too quiet lately, and quiet with "enemies" often means they're up to something.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 5396611

Good point.

If you look at the military stats, North Korea outnumbers South Korea in every branch of the military.

If North Korea was pushed back and started to lose the war they could activate their 8.2 million reserves and 5,000 tanks and finish the job on the ground.

In 1950 the Chinese 'human wave' attack only consisted of about 80,000 troops (still a lot by any measure), but if you could imagine a human wave attack of over 1 million (let alone 8.2 million) you get to see the dilemma for the South Koreans and U.S.

It puts the U.S in a position where it risks Chinese or Russian intervention by sending multiple aircraft carriers and hundreds of thousands of troops and heavy armory into China and Russia's backyard. This also means that the U.S would have to pull its carriers and heavy armor from strategically important areas protecting other allies (i.e, Israel, Persian Gulf, etc...)

If the U.S decides to revoke its 'first use' policy of nuclear weapons and deal with the NK threat by nuking its way to victory, that invites a series of variables that involve some pretty ugly miscalculations (not to mention full Japanese rearmament and acquisition of an ICBM capability that would have far-reaching global implications).

So, in summary........

If North Korea uses its FULL military might it would probably overwhelm the relatively small SK-US force and win, unless the U.S is happy to send a quarter of its military on to China's and Russia's doorstep and possibly start WW3.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 33985461

I work for a Missile Defense Contractor at our home of Missile Defense and we have numerous analysts and they all agree that the 8.2 Million reserves is highly over-exaggerated. NK does not and could not FUEL, FEED, and resource these troops. It would take their entire country's CONSTANT production just to supply the active troops. It is also common accepted knowledge in the intel group that many of NKs troops would abandon there posts immediately in a large crisis.
Even in peace time they dont have the resources to feed and fuel the population. Just imagine when something real big pops off due to NK jumping the gun; the few resources they have will be cut off instantaneous.
