This was the premise of a book written by Whitley Strieber, Warday. In the book the Chinese let one go from space, going off just offshore to NYC, described as an unusually large weather satellite.

Then take their fucking satellite OUT! That crazy POS (the one in NK, not our POTUS in this case) has been talking smack, no one knows what he'll do. And we're going to sit around and wring our hands about whether he will or won't destroy our fucking power grid???!!! With no way to prevent it if he's truly nuts enough to do it? For once WND isn't full of shit. Press can reassure all they want, but this isn't the Manhattan project, they can draw from other countries nuclear knowledge.

The giant floating golf ball along with guided missile cruisers are now stationed off NK. Someone in DC isn't dismissing NKs missile threat like the press is.

On the other hand an EMP burst would be the least loss of life of any attack. Its not going to blow every power system, in many cases its just going to trip breakers. Unlike the cold war most long distance communication is now fiber, it will have no effect on that. We are looking at something less than Sandy when it comes to power loss. Not minor but not the end of civilization by far.

Pure crap! Nukes detonated high in the altitude will do nothing to anybody on the surface, physically. The USAF proved this in tests in the 1950's. Do your research!
