Quoting: Anonymous Coward 37042845 Uninstall the drivers via device manager if you dont wish to pull your computer apart Indeed. Depending on what OS you are running, you can usually get to the device manager by right clicking "My Computer" or "Computer" on your start menu or desktop, and select "manage". Then, on the hierarchy menu on the left, select "device manager". A list of devices should appear in the window. Find the microphone driver, right click it, and select "disable" Do it quickly, im sick of listening to you watch porn. Last Edited by Tantalus on 04/01/2013 11:27 PM "Those who would sacrifice freedom for security deserve neither" --Benjamin Franlkin No one ever said freedom was safe. Upon true understanding of the concepts of freedom, you shall realize that freedom is the most dangerous choice of lifestyle. There are no guarantees in freedom but those one provides for themselves, at their own will. True freedom comes with extreme personal risk. Are you willing to take the risk? You HAVE TO physically remove it. |

I didn't find it humorous so I taped the thing. Just got the laptop and forgot the camara. Hacking into my computer was bad enough. One of these day I am going to load viruses into my computer and sit back and laugh! I don't care if mine bites the dust, but I bet they do! |

Quoting: Anonymous Coward 37042845 I had an HP Pavilion DV5 Notebook, and the microphone wire would connect directly to the WiFI module underneath the RAM in one of the compartments on the bottom. Download the service manual for your specific computer to find out where the microphone wire is attached. |

Go ahead, delete drivers, "turn it off" but someone who is remote accessing...CAN ACCESS...and REINSTALL and TURN ON. LOL Quoting: ResistancePress LOVE YOU ALL! LOL That's what I said but anyway.. OOPS...sorry!!! Didn't see ur post. |

That's just paranoia. A hack like that is extremely rare and if you're familiar with the concept of a zero day exploit, you would understand that something like that would be reserved for important operations - because once it is known, it get's patched. 99.99 percent of hackers DO NOT have the ability to access or power on your computer if it's powered off. That, my friend, is grade A horse shit. |

I was responding to advice someone gave about turning off their mic. But whatever. If someone thinks uninstalling the audio drivers will prevent someone from hearing them..They are wrong. I can remote access my old bosses work pc and see all of the drivers and sys files. THAT is what I was talking about. UGH.. I was talking about "turning off the mic" Apologies I should've used the quote button. |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 25242396 United States 04/02/2013 12:10 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Establishing remote access requires some form of network connectivity on the target computer. If there is no network card, there is no network connectivity. If there is no network driver is not installed, the computer cannot communicate with the network card & vice versa; therefore, it is not possible to establish a remote connection to the computer in order to reinstall said driver via that network card. A lot of you morans like to use computing terms very loosely here and don't have the slightest idea what you're talking about. |
