The cruelty of the Chinese in dealing with poultry is just disgusting, they seem to have no compassion for animals at all. Fuckers.

Is it too early to start ordering new face masks? As well as a slew load of other shit? Better to do now, then wait until everything is unavailable?

Go back and read the link that CrazyMama was referring to. It explained in exquisite detail how horrible this virus is. It is not outrageous at this point to begin to put some thought into how we will each handle a pandemic. Being informed, imho, is the best way to avoid panic.

And now for the really scary statistics, that will strike fear into the heart of the bravest of us.

Falling out of bed kills 450 people annually in the U.S

Dogs kill 34 people per year in the U.S.

Ants kill 30 people per year

Icicles kill 100 people per year in Russia

Approximately 150 people are killed each year by coconuts

Every year lightning kills 1000 people.

Pen caps cause 100 deaths a year. These deaths occur when people play with pen caps in their mouths and the cap slips in too far, creating a choking hazard.

In 2008, more than 36,000 people died from drug overdoses, and most of these deaths were caused by prescription drugs

Seasonal Influenza and Pneumonia kill 50,097 people a year in the USA alone.

And folks if you really want a reason to be afraid or panic, then its cancer. I won't even tell you the figure, you dont want to know, and i dont wish to cause panic.

Spider is correct. When news of H7N9 first came out, the specter of efficient human to human transmission was a lot farther away than it is today. More family connected cases, gene mutations that bring it closer to h2h every day, cases in more widespread areas. The big 'IF' is rapidly becoming a 'when'. Humans have no natural immunity to this, if it goes hot the only way to avoid it will be to bug-in for months.

the mammalian change has already taken place , and there have been reported family clusters , as well as patients who have had no direct contact with birds , contracting h7n9 its clear that present testing is not 100%
accurate ......then consider the incubation period up to 10 days in some people , the asymptomatic cases ......the truth is here not sure if this is human to human transmission .
It is limited granted ...but already transmitting between people ....
Perhaps one or two then the virus dies , would explain the slow build up rate ,
